  • Warrington Wolves vs Wigan Warriors, Friday 9th Oct, Emerald Headingley Stadium, K.O. 7:45pm.

Youngster Morgan Smithies is excited to return to action after spending six games on the sidelines following two suspensions.

The 19 year-old was penalised for committing two separate offences against Castleford Tigers in Round 10 of the Betfred Super League, but is set to return this Friday against Warrington.

Discussing his suspension Smithies said: “It’s something I’ll definitely learn from, but it was very tough watching on TV from home.

“It’s about being smarter. I won’t be changing the way I play, I’ll still be being aggressive. I just need to be smarter in certain areas.”

IP_15128-1024x683.jpgSmithies has made 10 appearances so far this season, with 34 in total for the Club.

With his six-game ban completed, Smithies is very much looking forward to getting back among the action.

“I’ve taken it on the chin and just carried on working hard in training.

I’m just raring to get out there with the boys on Friday night.”

The back-rower will come into a side fresh off the back of a disappointing defeat in the Coral Challenge Cup Semi Finals.

On rebuilding after the defeat: “The boys all know that the result [last weekend] was unacceptable so we’ve got a lot to prove on Friday.”

“For us now it’s back to basics, doing what we do well and building some momentum with some good performances.”
