Adrian Lam expects a ‘physical and entertaining game’ when Wigan take on Hull FC in Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Final (K.O. 2:30pm).

The Cherry and Whites will take on FC for a place in the Semi Finals at Leeds’ Emerald Headingley Stadium.

Speaking to the media in his weekly pre-match press conference on Wednesday, the Warriors head coach highlighted the importance of the fixture.

“We haven’t done so well in the competition in recent years so it’s a big focus for us.

“We’ve probably got the hardest draw out of everyone, both clubs would probably admit that. But we are looking forward to it.”

Wigan battled past the Black and Whites last Thursday in their Betfred Super League fixture, coming out on top 16-14 at the DW Stadium.

On facing the side again in such a short turnaround, Lam said: “It’ll be an aggressive game of Rugby League. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

“We’re expecting a tough, physical and entertaining game. We are prepared to knuckle down and do what it takes to be successful. It’s going to be a lot of hard work for everyone.”

Discussion heading into the game has focused on the unavailability of Hull’s Jake Connor and Brad Fash, who will miss out through suspension.

Discussing availability of players, the head coach said: “We’ve still got a number of players out, so we can’t focus too much on who they will have or won’t have available.

“Our focus is making sure we prepare as best we can with who we have and play the best we can, whilst putting everything else out of our minds.”

Lam also provided information on the health of his squad going into the fixture.

On winger Dom Manfredi: “He’s a big game player for us and will be in the 21. We will give him every chance of being available on Saturday.”
