rugbylad09
So I have seen this on Twitter across the season so far, and it’s a welcomed addition to the amateur game. However I believe the whole concept needs an overhaul. The best try doesn’t always win, I understand it’s opinionated, but it’s more just which club has the best following on Twitter. You see the likes of waterhead winning every week. Take this week for example, the ‘best’ try is probably B, but it has 2 votes. A- good skill but it’s 5 yards out B- has beat 4/5 players to score a great individual try C- lovely kick and rounding of the fullback but it’s obvious he’s offside, probably see these scored every week D- it’s a great ball and line, but again, fairly simple. I think the concept should be each NCL club gets a vote, to remove supporter/club allegiance bias. And at the end of the season the club with the most ‘tries of the week’ gets some reward. Maybe it’s the end of season trophies paid for, a new set of equipment. Would also encourage teams to record their games. What are peoples opinions?
