Shaun Wane: I want to do it all myself

Wigan coach Shaun Wane has hit back at the Sydney Roosters after it emerged they spoke with Warrington Wolves to gain an edge on the Super League champions in this month’s World Club Challenge.

When the news broke last week, Total Rugby League spoke to Warrington coach Tony Smith, who suggested Wane would most likely have asked for help from some of Sydney’s rivals. Wane was adamant the contrary was true, and said: “I don’t want anybody’s help.

“I just want to make sure we go there and if we win we’ve done it ourselves.

“We’ve done all our own research, we’ve spent all our pre-season watching their games. We will go over there and prepare ourselves, I don’t want it any other way.”

The Warriors take on the Roosters on February 22nd and play a warm-up match against their New Zealand namesake tomorrow night.
