Former Salford City Reds Super League player Jack Spencer has signed a one-year contract at Craven Park.

The 21-year-old has spent most of this year in Australia, where he played in reserve grade rugby for NRL side Wests Tigers, but has now returned home.

He joined his new team-mates for his first training session last night.

Barrow director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “Jack is a top quality player.

“We have been looking at bringing in another prop forward to bolster our front row options for some weeks now and I am delighted that Jack has chosen to sign for Barrow.

“This is a really exciting signing for the club, for sure.”

Rip the bludgers heads off!

Great signing for the club, add some steel to our pack. Is this it though now for recruitment? still wouldnt mind one more prop and another 2nd rower, then we can relegate Butler & Whitehead to sidelines for injury cover

"is a dream a lie if it don't come true or is it something worse?"
