HIGH NOON AT MAYFIELD ARLFC

FOR EASTER SUNDAY EGGSTRAVAGANSA FINALS DAY

It’s a 12noon start on Sunday 31st March at Mayfield Sports Centre the home of Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC for WRLA’s (Women’s Rugby League Association) Finals day featuring the WRLA Plate and WRLA Challenge Cup Finals

The double header finals day is a great occasion and WRLA’s prestigious traditional Easter Sunday blue riband event when all our former, current clubs and summer league competing clubs come to celebrate this event.

The ‘High Noon’ Plate Cup Final will see holders York Ladies competing in their third successive final against Leigh East Ladies who will be appearing in their first final in their first season in the WRLA Winter League. Both sides will want to make their mark over the eighty minutes and to add extra spice its ‘War of the Roses’ clash.

The Cup Final an all ‘White Rose’ clash promises to be a superb encounter between two great amateur sides of the women’s game, when Castleford Panthers Ladies current league and cup double winners play Bradford Thunderbirds who have returned to the WRLA Winter League this season. The Thunderbirds themselves are chasing a league and cup double and no doubt the Panthers will have a different view doing everything in their power to thwart that and take the trophy. Both sides have a host of experienced players some who have represented their country and will want to make their mark over the eighty minutes and to add extra spice it will decide which Yorkshire club is the top side this season.

WRLA Chair Steve Manning said, “In the oldest cup competitions in the woman’s game I am sure that we will once again witness a great afternoon’s entertainment showcasing the quality of the rugby league that is played by the women.

"Once again we are at this year a superb facility putting income back into the amateur game, which is the envy of many semi professional and amateur clubs throughout the country. Fingers crossed that, given the snowfalls today (22/03/13 ed.), this year’s finals are not postponed by Easter snow, as befell the 2008 final."
