  1. Eccles has the advantage of always being underrated. I doubt very much with the injuries in the squad that the Broncos will win until Easter at the earliest.
  2. Swinton played at Moor Lane for a while.
  3. Salford City FC were very keen to share, an informal deal had been done with the SRD moving to Moor Lane. Looks like that could be on again if what we are hearing is true. Salford City FC were not happy when that deal fell through however.
  4. Football struggling in Gtr Manchester? City and Utd have never been stronger. Bolton going well as are Stockport and the Ammies. Surely some mistake.
  5. I think they mean the mighty Salford City LOL
  6. Toronto managed quite a profile before they got to SL. Being broadcast on the Internet or a small TV channel would possibly be enough. The Broncos were in SL and in TV but their profile never grew!
  7. Firstly, let me salute the owners and directors of the Skolars who have kept the club going for 20 years as a professional club and never going bust or owing a penny, no mean feat in British RL! But when and if the new owners are given the keys to New River what is the challenge? Some would say it is impossible to have a thriving RL club in the capital without throwing tens of millions at it and there are plenty of examples of how not to do it. I think the new owners should focus on the three areas. PROFILE - The RL thumbprint in London is so small it does not register. Without a raised profile in the media and actual awareness that the game exists any new project will fail. It will take money, a lot of of smoozing editors and journos but London is always on the look out for the latest thing so that approach is likely o succeed in the short term. ENGAGEMENT - Without engaging the local community nothing will happen apart from maybe some initial short term fizz. Roots are what the Broncos in all their forty year have never managed to put down and an abstract 'London' entity will not work as most Londoners stick to their local are and have no interest traveling across town. Get the kids and the parents may follow, get into schools, get youth league started. Get a London wide comp for kids set up, One thing is sure London kids love RL when it is delivered. PRODUCT - Londoners will not watch a losing side, they have attachment to their local football side and will support them but that support is handed down and would take decades to create. So a competitive attractive team would have to be created as a priority. Success breeds success but it has to be maintained and have a thriving youth set up to feed it. I have watched to game in London for forty three years so I know what failure looks like, and had had enough of the thin gruel of survival. Flourish or fail.
  8. I was referring to the new owners who will surely bring in much better. Worky were far better but poor form to gloat.
  9. Potentially great news for the long suffering London RL public. I do hope they have learnt the lessons on 1995 and the Aussie ownership of the Broncos. Where better players will come from apart from taking some of the current Bronco squad is hard to see. Money buys a lot and having some or any favourable London coverage is a must. Getting out of L1 is not that difficult, building a fan base is another matter. Interesting times.
