  1. No, you've answered a question that wasn't asked. You were asked whether you wanted the project to succeed. You've only said that you are against it. The inference I draw is that you want it to fail because that would prove you right.
  2. Is that assuming that nothing else has changed?
  3. Arthur Gould. Received a house in 1900 (or thereabouts). Overlooked by the RFU as they reckoned if Wales turned to NU, the floodgates would open down in the West of England.
  4. No, I didn't miss your point. You missed mine. Other countries are getting it wrong.
  5. I was under the impression that only the Yorkshire and Lancashire clubs, with a sprinkling from Cheshire, took sufficiently large gates to support paying players.
  6. There's no need to redefine "monarch". Changing the meaning of words to fit your hypothesis is poor stuff.
  7. I'm not a Muslim but I don't believe that either.
  8. Another example of confusing towns and cities with councils. Wakefield doesn't have three teams. Wigan doesn't have two. Hull has two. Leeds has two. Leeds used to have five.
  9. Bradford split into a soccer club and a Northern Union club. Splitting into two Northern Union clubs would be less likely.
  10. No. If you don't have a monarch to give you a Royal Charter, you can't have cities.
  11. They're not real cities. In the US, you can just declare yourself a city.
  12. Or women who still have their husbands alive.
  13. Yeah, bit of an own goal with the song ending "Leeds, Leeds, Leeds" instead of "Leeds United, Leeds United, Leeds United" though.
  14. It's not open to consideration. Whether or not a place is a city is a fact. That's where you're going wrong. Interestingly (or maybe not), every city in Yorkshire, bar one, has a Rugby League team, whereas only one of Lancashire's cities has one.
  15. Once again, we see folk confusing a city with an administrative area. The City of Wakefield just includes Wakefield. The City of Wakefield MDC includes Castleford, Featherstone, several other towns and vast tracts of farmland. A city has a Royal Charter saying it's a city. It's not just a big town. St David's is a city. It's not big.
  16. Hold out their hands? Still paying cash in Leigh?
  17. Yet they were given contracts by a management which clearly underperformed by recruiting substandard players.
  18. Plenty of threads on here about poor spectator facilities, poor development, poor administration, poor ground maintenance, poor marketing. I'm not going to single out clubs but the fact is that there's more to running a club than winning games. You can sneer about the importance of decent toilet facilities but, eventually, having your customers paddle about will have an effect on your club's income.
