  1. Barrow away and the frenchies spring to mind Robin. Gaz - i'm in for both.
  2. I'll give this a go Mark. 1. Re-introduce P+R subject to the promoted club fulfilling ground requirements. I do believe a club should have certain minimum standards. 2. Re-distribute finances on a fairer basis throughout league. Maybe on a sliding scale based on league positions. 3. I'm sure with P+R coming back that would give a surge to attendances. Though this does in someways rely on the club being successful. Extra finances would also allow the club to spend more on promoting themselves. 4.Overseas players to be reduced to 2 for ALL clubs. Overseas coaches would count as one. Expansion clubs should enter RL at Championship 1 level though i would give them extra help in promoting and managing their club. Maybe paid from central funds. 5. I don't know what the voting rights of clubs are now but i do not see how one vote per club is wrong. Providing they are full members of RL. 6. Dual contracts should be stopped immediately. Introduce a loan system that is fair and easy to understand. &. Either introduce bonus points for ALL teams or abandon them. Over to you people.
  3. I honestly believe that RL at part time level is fast approaching a critical moment. We have several clubs in real trouble. The fan base is not increasing in real terms. The RL heirarchy seem oblivious to the problems below SL. With a move to licensing we have removed any natural fairness in our game, this has lead to legions of fans leaving our game. We also have the threat of Union moving to summer, the first murmurings have already started. If they do move this will put us in direct competition with a sport that has a lot more support from the establishment than we can ever hope to get. They have a far better international scene than we do. The tv broadcasters will fall over themselves to get union on board. I've felt for a few years now that RL at part time level has a very bleak future. What's the answer, I haven't a clue. But like Mark i don't think a breakaway will happen and personally i don't think it would benefit us. I now only follow FEV. I've lost all interest in anything else to do with RL. While there is a FEV i'll continue to go. If there's no FEV then i'll go back to the second greatest game in the world and give RL not one thought.
  4. I understand your argument, and it does hurt clubs like ours who invest time and money in young players. Grants or compensation maybe the answer. Reading your last sentence, i think it is unfair on some of the great young players who have done their best for us and then moved on up the rugby leage ladder
  5. is this an anagram of "second rate agent succeeds in getting decent players jobs with lower league clubs".
  6. Love the double negative. Is this a "words in the wrong order" quiz?
  7. I acknowledge you never said a player should not be a free agent but in reality under the old system they were not free to take their skills wherever they wished, as normal working people were. This is discrimination, and while i agree the Bosman rule has been detrimental to smaller clubs in particular, discrimination against one part of society is unfair and the EU and British governments rightly put a stop to it. The practise of sports clubs witholding a players registration until they were paid a transfer fee reduced them to mere chattels. Only wish i had an answer to the problem.
  8. Sorry jamescolin but i don't agree. When a player comes to the end of his contract why should'nt he become a free agent. When i used to do fixed contract work, at the end of that contract i was free to go where i wanted for my next contract. The company employing me never paid a transfer fee or compensation to my previous employer. Why should a professional sportsman be any different. As Mark said it's an infringement of employment law and a persons civil liberties.
  9. Just out of curiosity Mark, how many games will Finn have to play at hooker before you accept thats the position we signed him for?
  10. Spot on Terry, I mentioned this in a previous topic and i still haven't been able to find out what the exact rules are with dual registration. What was so wrong with the loan sysyem. I, like you think this is the start of something more disturbing. It's feeder club in all but name. Some clubs in our league and Div 1 have a number of these deals. What influence does the SL club in this contract have over their player, because lets be under no illusions, the SL club will be in control of that contract and that player.
  11. Steady on Gaz, like everyone else they have to earn the right to enter the tap room of above mentioned hostelry. We don't just take anyone.
  12. Enough of the politics. I am so looking forward to boxing day, yes i know it's a friendly but i've missed me rugby. Being one of the Lagooners i see enough of them nutbags (Blackpool, Benidorm etc) but it's the other mates and supporters that i only get to see during the season that i miss. I miss the social side at away matches, i miss some of the grounds that i love visiting. Batley, Dewsbury, Barrow etc. I miss the way the excitement grows as each match gets nearer. i miss away matches, as i'm walking down the lane to get the bus, wondering what the day has in store for us, will we win, will the pub sell strongbow and will Bob get his hand in his pocket. I've had a bellyfull of the politics. BRING ON THE RUGBY!!!!!!
  13. The only things stopping me giving up on the game is the social side of watching FEV and the fact that i only live 50 yards from the ground. I've tried staying away but when i hear the crowd cheer i'm left thinking, sod it i wish i was there.
  14. You just couldn't write this stuff. I know it probably doesn't affect our league. (yet) But we now have a team rushed into our game and delayed fixtures for teams trying to plan for the season ahead. The game goes from one farce to another. I have no faith in the future of our game.
  15. Nowt to do with sense of humor. It's the incessant ###### jokes. I was told off for going off topic the other week. How do ###### jokes differ from going off topic.
  16. Help, moderator needed.
  17. Predictable. You don't like another view point to yours so resort to sarcasm.
  18. I work hard and choose to spend money on Sky TV, which is well worth the
  19. Looking forward to fixture release day, mainly to see when we play the frenchies away and where the authorities are sending us on our bank holiday fixtures. Barrow probably.
  20. It's just so depressing to see clubs struggling year after year. We've been there so we know what it's like. It can't be much longer before one of our clubs finally gives up the struggle and goes to the wall. I feel the clubs in the topic header ae only the tip of a large iceberg. How many other clubs are behind with payments to suppliers, inland revenue, the VAT police, players and local authorities. I have no doubt some of our clubs are in good health but if even one is struggling we are all struggling. Like you Mr Lobster i hope to goodness our BOD are in control of things. Chasing the dream of SL or trying to stay in SL will eventually finish a club. Hope it's not us.
