  1. what with the john terry fiasco and some of our r.l. players making headlines for the wrong reasons, who do you think has the best role models, football or rugby league. i like rugby league players, i like footballers too, but which is better, there's only one way to find out.................FIGHT!
  2. very sorry to hear this. i worked with John many years ago for McAlpine when they were building drax power station. i also believe he was one of the founders of knottingley rockware, along with Reg Rowbottom. as you saysportbilly, a rovers stalwart. condolences to johns family.

  7. can't remember the score, but panthers were well beat in the end. lock lane had too much power up front.
  8. i know rugby league is not a game for cissies, but i went to watch cas panthers under 16s v lock lane in the national cup today, and those lads deserved medals for playing in those conditions. i'm glad the lions game was called off. we all like our rugby but you have to consider the players. i agree with you Robin.

  13. we have christened him jersey joe in our camp.
  14. i think the rugby we see this season will be, maybe not dour, but certainly defence orientated. thats not a criticism of DP, but i think he sees that as the best way to get league points, and thats his job after all. if you were given the choice of defensive tight rugby that got you a top 4 place, or more adventurous expansive rugby that got you a lower place in the playoffs, which would you go for. bearing in mind your coaching job could depend on it.
  15. i think it's almost impossible to assess. there are so many unknowns. but i am hoping for a top 2 place. we can but dream.up the rovers!
  16. it's not "play your cards right".
