  1. don't know about you lot, but next season i'll be cheering on the 13 lads in the rovers shirts.
  2. very very sorry to see james leave. he's as sound as a pound. improved year on year and if he's as committed to hunslet as he was to fev then they will see some good rugby from the lad. players like james and scott wilson are what i thought junior recruitment was all about, but it seems we don't have the patience or the inclination to persevere with coaching them into the players that they could be.
  3. i agree Terry. it's being done by stealth. we may just as well have accepted the mergers all those years ago, we would have been over it by now.
  4. no. but may god bless her and all who fail in her.
  5. it's just my opinion, but i think certain skills and facets of the game have been lost, and not replaced by anything better. also, when i was watching the game in the "good old days" it didn't bother me that i didn't have to travel to london or bridgend to watch the game. players are bigger now, players are faster, people can sit in their armchairs and watch it, but is the actual game better.
  6. imo Robin, superleague is just different, not better.
  7. going back to when i was a kid, they opened the gates at half time and we kids would come running down to the ground from the hip and swarm into the ground. not all the kids watched the rugby, some just messed about, or collected cig packets or matchboxes, but some, like me, became lifelong supporters. so i think it's worth letting them in for nowt, get them used to the idea of coming down to the games.
  8. i personally think the game was better before superleague.
  9. i've seen you when you've been feeling grumpy. you got kicked out of the pantomime.
  10. next sunday the lions u16s are at home to hunslet warriors (top of the league) in the semi final of the yorkshire cup. not sure what time kick off, but will post on here later in the week when i find out. the following sunday the same 2 teams play each other in the the league at mill pond. btw, a number of these lads are on rovers scholarship. p.s. there may even be a bit of biff
  11. saw a cracking game of rugby yesterday. fev lions u16s v west hull u16s. finished up a draw 6-6. lots of errors but both teams gave it everything, especially in defence. don't sit twiddling your thumbs waiting for the season to start, theres plenty of good rugby out there.
  12. you can't play on the slots this week.
  13. Robin Evans is the epitome' of sartorial elegance. a modern day beau brumell no less. what's worn in wath this year, will be all the rage in new york next year.
  14. i was speaking to Keith Bell a couple of weeks ago, and i said to him, "you're being inducted in to the hall of fame aren't you Keith". "aye" he said. so i said "what did that cost you". qiuck as a flash he replied, "20 years of pain and a new knee". i don't begrudge him the hall of fame for one second. i'll never forget the rollocking he gave to Rod Pethybridge on his debut.
  15. unlike our union counterparts, the kiwis didn't use the excuse of not having 9 or 10 of their first choice players available, but you can only play whats in front of you. well done england. col, i think your faith will be sorely tested next week.
  16. i couldn't understand why we let shaun hesketh go, and brought barker in.
  17. we keep hearing that the aussies have an advantage because they have good weather all year round. why then, do we make 12 to 16 year olds, train and play in the winter. some of these kids are scholarship kids who are supposed to be the future of our game. this must limit their progress, especially in the skills department.
  18. australia v new zealand final for my money. saw nothing today to make me change mind.
