Personally I enjoyed those years when we were dominant where there was no promotion. At least there’s the chance of winning more matches.

And except for the likely promoted team, there’s few other options open at this stage. -

Doubt we can afford either, but surely not much point in keeping Aekins and MK for next season?. I’d have also thought that the likes of Leilua, Hankinson, MK, and Aekins might be a bit too expensive for us now. -

I agree with the above, but would probably let Day go, steady player, but didn’t do enough for me. -

It will be interesting to see what happens now with recruitment and retentions. Which players are realistic retentions within our reduced budgets. -
For me, and I might be wrong, it looks like it isn’t the coach who recruits the players.
-
Ford and the coaching staff should decide recruitment and team selection. But realistically I don’t know if that will happen.
-
I doubt whether there’s the money to pay Ford off and bring someone else in.
-
To be fair to Ford he had to deal with a hand already dealt, I’m happy to give him a chance with a team/squad that he is involved in recruiting.

All depend on whether, these kind of contracts would be competitive compared to what other teams offer. I’m sure there’s some wiggle room, with getting players to do work for the foundation, which might allow us the possibility of having some ‘full time players’. The other problem being, if we assemble a losing team, this would then further reduce crowds and hence revenue.

Very disappointing, but we go again next season. Definitely need a more coherent and better recruitment strategy. Why did we sign Chisnall and Longstaff, and in hindsight, crazy having so many fullbacks at the start of the season. Clearly money is going to be tighter next season, but I’d be surprised if we keep any of the high contract players, such as Ford, MK etc.

I think there’s an understandable case of Fev fans playing down our chances, especially given what happened last year. But really we should be winning, a better team, home advantage, and a week off to prepare. In these playoff circumstances, the team in this position nearly always wins. Defeat would mean an underperformance and would be a disaster.
