  1. Wouldn't know where to start with that
  2. The Fev TV replay doesn't prove anything. Hally seemed to take a long look at the posts after they didn't give it though. Luckily it didn't matter in the end. He's had a few of those. Obviously he tends clear the uprights quite a bit which probably works against him with the touch judges unlikely to give anything that looks close.
  3. Good stat - but when I saw the title I thought you'd worked out that yesterday Batley received a world record number of penalties / 6-agains in one half of rugby
  4. Yep and fell for every other trick in the book. Remarkable how Batley - as the team 18 pts behind at HT were so squeaky clean in that second half and were not at fault for any of the 50:50 calls. Can't deny we were poor in the second half but its no wonder - I think panic set in when we got the ball back.
  5. Yep in the first half in particular I thought we set the tone. The game was still in the balance and we gave 6 again late in the tackle count. On the next set we gave another 6 away on the last tackle (cant remember if it was a penalty or we tried to intercept) but we held out again and never looked back.
  6. Yeah isn't it a photo of Pickers under Gaz Gale's name as well ! - and he's not even with us now. Think it was actually 2 seasons back when we last had photos there. Wouldn't it be good if we had player profiles (70's Shoot 'soccer' annuals style) - you know like least favourite opponent, favourite Tellytubby and other interesting stuff...........
  7. I'll believe that when I see it. The loan thing makes me feel uneasy to say the least. If Campbell is prepared to put any more money in it all has to go on half backs for me. Easier said than done even if the money is there though...............
  8. and I thought you and Monkey were two of the posse trying trying to run Briscoe out of town What short memories people have He's had 2 games with a number of errors but the 2 real howlers that we remember, as they led to tries in both games, would both have been overturned by a video ref as they were knock-ons by the opposition. Briscoe gives 100% in every game and I just don't see the argument for dropping him. I'll stand corrected if the blip continues.......
  9. A lot of deserved criticism but imo a bit unfair to focus on the missing halves. I thought Lacans was actually the only bright spot. Perfectly weighted kick for Hardcastle's try, no-look pass for Springer's. then a lovely solo try. I think we lost it in the forwards - they just wanted it more than us (and the mistakes of course)
  10. Really ? and I thought I needed new glasses. Never ceases to amaze me the floodlight debate. I get that in SL due to the Thursday / Friday games our floodlights would be inadequate but as things are its only the first / second (at a push) home games of the season where its an issue (if you can call it that). As long as we stay in this division I would put any ground improvements into the PO Rd end terracing and the car park theme park.
  11. 1. Briscoe 2. Hardcastle 3. Day Crash bang wallop seemed to win the the day for me. So gone for these 3. Not much guile - just a thought for Longy for when the likes of Hall and Killer are fit. Wildie and Bus good as well today and maybe one or two others but most of the rest were well below par imo
  12. Yeah not a game that would make any first time fans want to come again. Not sure why the atmosphere was so flat. It could be that expectation of points thing which rubs off on the players ? Just my opinion and I suspect not many would agree, as usual, but I don't get what we are trying to do with the entertainment. I'd just about accepted that (when the PA system is working) we have to cease all half time discussion and general catch up with our mates etc in place of listening to music that will will bring in a new generation of Rovers fans (arguable) but today we got what I can only assume was someone's favourite Motown b-sides LP. Not really sure who else that was for ? Then we had the Phoenix nights style fun fair - the music which was off-putting if you were on that side of the ground during the game. Anyway aside from the trivial stuff........As has been said - I'm not sure how we got to 56 points today and I thought Newcastle were much better than that. To be fair I don't think we would have reached 50 without the yellow and red cards. I may be corrected when the stats come out but it felt like Newcastle made good yardage with their sets . Also for long periods their commitment in defence was good with some noticeable old-school round the leg tackling. Nevertheless despite the general McDermott-like display we only conceded 6 pts which at least shows we did something way better than last year. Biggest concern for me is still the halves. We may well have enough to finish top with what we've got (but not in any of the least 3-4 seasons). Dean is a real talent and although he can make the odd error he's a match-winner. As for the others - I don't like to be critical of individuals but I'd have Wildie in the halves and Lacans with Jones. Say no more.
  13. Another injury or two and we can stop with all this talk of who we have to rotate. Team picks itself, normal service resumed......
  14. Yep. Hasn't that always been the case though ? I don't think we'd have it any other way if we had the choice would we ? If we ever get promoted though - it will be some party.....
  15. I think the vast majority don't come because they think they will get beaten. Put it this way - f they were favourites for the title this year or realistic challengers those stay-away fans would soon put aside their allegedly honourable reasons for not turning up at our place. They're simply the most fickle supporters in the league. You only have to look at the home support which for a town of that size is a disgrace.
  16. Cheers. I thought previous posts must have been wrong but yep you are are right.
