  1. 1. Briscoe 2. Hardcastle 3. Day Crash bang wallop seemed to win the the day for me. So gone for these 3. Not much guile - just a thought for Longy for when the likes of Hall and Killer are fit. Wildie and Bus good as well today and maybe one or two others but most of the rest were well below par imo
  2. Yeah not a game that would make any first time fans want to come again. Not sure why the atmosphere was so flat. It could be that expectation of points thing which rubs off on the players ? Just my opinion and I suspect not many would agree, as usual, but I don't get what we are trying to do with the entertainment. I'd just about accepted that (when the PA system is working) we have to cease all half time discussion and general catch up with our mates etc in place of listening to music that will will bring in a new generation of Rovers fans (arguable) but today we got what I can only assume was someone's favourite Motown b-sides LP. Not really sure who else that was for ? Then we had the Phoenix nights style fun fair - the music which was off-putting if you were on that side of the ground during the game. Anyway aside from the trivial stuff........As has been said - I'm not sure how we got to 56 points today and I thought Newcastle were much better than that. To be fair I don't think we would have reached 50 without the yellow and red cards. I may be corrected when the stats come out but it felt like Newcastle made good yardage with their sets . Also for long periods their commitment in defence was good with some noticeable old-school round the leg tackling. Nevertheless despite the general McDermott-like display we only conceded 6 pts which at least shows we did something way better than last year. Biggest concern for me is still the halves. We may well have enough to finish top with what we've got (but not in any of the least 3-4 seasons). Dean is a real talent and although he can make the odd error he's a match-winner. As for the others - I don't like to be critical of individuals but I'd have Wildie in the halves and Lacans with Jones. Say no more.
  3. Another injury or two and we can stop with all this talk of who we have to rotate. Team picks itself, normal service resumed......
  4. Yep. Hasn't that always been the case though ? I don't think we'd have it any other way if we had the choice would we ? If we ever get promoted though - it will be some party.....
  5. I think the vast majority don't come because they think they will get beaten. Put it this way - f they were favourites for the title this year or realistic challengers those stay-away fans would soon put aside their allegedly honourable reasons for not turning up at our place. They're simply the most fickle supporters in the league. You only have to look at the home support which for a town of that size is a disgrace.
  6. Cheers. I thought previous posts must have been wrong but yep you are are right.
  7. Are Leeds playing Man U twice this week ?
  8. Think it was Briscoe (2) and Hankinson. Bussey limped off as well. Was holding his ankle before getting up and looked in discomfort but walked off unaided and seemed to get the thumbs up. Hopefully precautionary.........
  9. On the other hand some think that there are 9 props ahead of him......lol
  10. What on earth did Joey do last season to become a nailed on starter ahead of Hall ? Are we basing this on Hall's age and the fact that we paying Joey so much or basing it on performances on the pitch ? If it's the latter clearly I know nothing. Maybe Joey shed 5 stone and Hall had a leg amputated in the off-season.
  11. Ha ha it would be nice to think we have selection problems but history tells us that after a few games and injuries kick in the team starts to pick itself. That aside for me, ... Hall at FB then Briscoe, Leilua, Hankinson, Gale. Pickers as cover. When Killer's fit he has to play but ask me again if we have to worry about who to drop by then lol..
  12. Yeah I was assuming that Hardcastle will now be primarily regarded as a back rower ? Personally I don't like to see Hall on the wing. He's a top player and one of the best still at this level but I don't think he has either the flying finish or crash bang finish to play on the wing and he sometimes runs out of space out there. All about opinions though of course
  13. Whether or not Locky stays for another year - haven't we got at least 8 props / middles ? It does always feel at this point that we could do with just one more rampaging forward but as it stands I think we're ok - for now. We have some quality three-quarters possibly loaded too much towards FB and centre (I would have kept Doyle as cover on the wing) but for me if we only sign two more players until the start of the season they would both be half backs.... If we're including Wildie as cover then last year we started with 6 half backs which increased to 7 when we signed Ford - although admittedly that signing was made when Holmes and Chizzy were unlikely to play for us again. I don't see how we can include Wildie as cover though - whilst he probably played his best rugby for us at half back in his first spell with us we have no cover at hooker and can't have Jones doing 80 minutes each week if we have an injury. I hope that the Ford and Lacans experiment is a revelation but in reality we don't know much about Lacans and to say the jury's out regarding Ford is an understatement. So for me - throw as many half backs at the squad as we can afford and hopefully a couple will stick.....
  14. Just to clarify i was just joking and don't care what we call them - as long as we're talking about the same thing !!
  15. Back rowers ? Can we call them left and right edges for pitys sake.....
  16. Indeed. That lookalike is pushing it a bit though
