Great effort

This season is now about getting into the playoffs and peaking then with hopefully our first 17 on the field. People moaning at the directors and coach are misguided. There would be no Hornets if not for them and the coach has nothing to prove and they must be as disappointed as us. The players have to look at themselves and if they can’t put the effort in because the main players are missing then leave.

Disappointing Nelmes gets a ban and Lawton gets away with two head shots.

Rank bad luck has ruined a promising start to the season. Three of the next four fixtures look like defeats and Newcastle is not a given if they stack the team with York players. After Else who is having a great season went off Hornets had no threat whatsoever so without key players back it’s going to be a difficult month. I really hope I’m wrong.

I’d be surprised if Ridyard and McNally play but hopefully Jama and Whittle will.

His and Openshaws pace should catch a lot of teams out this season.

If I’ve got this correct the bottom two teams in the Championship at the end of this season will be relegated with the winners of League One promoted. The team finishing 12th in the Championship will play off against the winner of the playoffs in League One to be in the Championship next season. So no automatic promotion for the team winning the playoffs. It looks like the team finishing 12th will have a month or so’s rest before playing a team that as played two or three tough playoff games.Hard ask that. Same the season after so to make it 12 teamed in both divisions.

Great player and a Gentleman. I enjoyed listening to him at Hornets explayers reunion nights. As a teenager I remember whilst he was a Hornets player scoring a try against the Aussies for Great Britain at Swinton on tv . RIP and condolences to his family.

Type of player Hornets where short of last season.

If we get anything from the first 3 games I will be happy but it’s the league that matters realistically we are playing for one promotion spot . It’s obvious how close we go to achieving that will determine attendances. The board have put everything in place that they can and I and people I have spoken to are really looking forward to our best season in years.

Well it could all come down to the September 1st game. I agree , the most anticipated season in a long time. More regular games and more equal competition should bring a good season of good rugby league.

Got to be better working together for both clubs.

I would really like to know what Graham Starkey thinks of IMG’s system. I remember Graham coming up with his own format of League structure many years ago.

Sad to hear of the passing of the great Henry Delooze . A Hornets legend for me and a great coach. Kel Coslett inherited Henry’s team and began one of Hornets best periods. RIP.

Apparently there are 5 proposals for League structure next week. One of them is adding 4 Super League A teams to League One. If that happens I’m finished with game.

Wasn’t there a meeting yesterday at the RFL to decide the format for Championship and League One structure. I can’t find anything in the press.

A couple of seasons ago someone chose between Newcastle and Hornets who should be promoted. Anyone accountable for that? It’s a shame about Newcastle but was it not predict? I wonder if IMG will take notice of this .
