  1. Depends which Leigh turns up and if we have a pack again. Lam will have had a few words after last sunday, so lets see the reaction. Just hope we have good rucks and speed to it. Will be a great crowd on with this being the first away support of any numbers and not many tickets left on Leighs ticket page with North sold out, west with just 22 left and only single seats in The East until the far south blocks. Hopefully get to 9500. Believe we have also sold over 1000 for the challenge cup game the following week.
  2. Every country has a sport that is the primary beneficiary of tv income. Our Australian cousins have little to no idea of the challenges faced competing with the biggest sport in the world when they are not exposed to it. great things of mutual benefit can come from a partnership
  3. Think about this situation - US gets a taste for RL, that’s what Vegas is about, so they say here’s a few Billion go buy the NRL hack a few clubs out and locate them to the US. NRL could not financially compete with that and the sport would quickly become the biggest rugby code by a long way overnight. The point is the Australian market is small change to the US, just as the SL is small change to the NRL but a global international product will drive big bucks
  4. I agree it was related to the comment if one team in Hull it would be KR, it wouldn’t it would be a “new” team playing out of the big stadium. I would love the day we can have 14/16/18 clubs playing in great stadiums with big crowds all over UK and France. I won’t see it in my lifetime, and it will involve evolution if the NRL do partner
  5. Tens of millions pa for a decade more like
  6. The vision would be one club playing at elite level in front of 20k plus crowds, not a hull derby that only really impacts the good folk of Hull if it went. Same with Wigan v Saints etc
  7. Seeing as we are all using crystal balls, a sport having strong domestic comps that produce genuine international competition and include the USA, which starts with a clean slate don’t forget, would have significantly more tv value than what the NRL currently have as a domestic comp. Creating Win/Win is how we go forward imo
  8. One club in Hull if this happens and it won’t be based in the East, plus don’t believe Saints would go in. RL is tribal so for it to work they would need plenty fans new to the game. NRLs win is a strong SL (incl France) and an international fixture list that may bring in South Africa and USA in time. They could achieve that by leveraging off their current partners, those TV rights would be worth having
  9. Great interview with Eamon McManus and Sky - nailed it quite simply and honestly.
  10. Isnt that what anyone with a brain cell has known for months
  11. KR by 18-24, Leighs small squad cant cope with having 2 of the top grafters missing from the pack for this one. Burgess hat trick as we get sucked in trying to hold the middle. Only 50 tickets left in the away end so should be KR's biggest gate this season. Need the players back and a couple of additions to compete at the top, but space on the quota and cap to do so.
  12. Agree too many make this personal let’s just state opinions that are supported in some way by facts
  13. Admit you just make everything up and take your opinion as fact - you’ve even labelled me “Derek” - obviously didn’t intend that to be DB
  14. Thank God the game wasn’t on a main channel. Happy for the Salford fans to see a win, Huddersfield offer nothing to SL and the gate was shocking
  15. All sounds great but any business must be results focussed, we don’t seem to be
  16. Evolution can only happen when it’s not 90% wrong
  17. Ownership changes - it’s a moving landscape
  18. and that is the problem - admin has a role just not as leaders, which we need.
  19. My views are simple so I will explain them 1. Club owners have the right to set goals and budgets, select key people to lead, manage and be accountable for the results against those budgets. 2. The SL is the income generator that funds the sport, and must lead. If enough income doesnt come in nothing filters through. 3. Recent years have seen a number of wealthy owners coming into SL motivated/ to take their club/sport forward eg HKR, Hull, Wigan, Wakefield, Leigh to add to the longer standing ones at Saints, Wire, Leeds, Huddersfield, Catalans. That exposes Salford and Cas - hopefully they can find that external money. As a sport I can not recall having a top table of that wealth motivated to throw millions in - they must have control of the coal face.
  20. The great thing about opinions is we all have them - mine is we had a clueless pen pushing board of non producing jobsworths slapping each other on the back and wasting money achieving nothing tangible.
  21. Are you making the allegation that I am Derek? - another clueless keyboard warrior at work. You pathetic person if that is the case. 60,000 people will still chip in despite the pontifications of a few on here, we will continue to invest in the clubs we love in whatever way we can for as long as we can. We will also continue to respect the money our owners put in to provide the spectacle we enjoy so much. Committees do not work, leadership does. If you want to become a leader do something about it.
  22. The pro game was the point. Take RU, the Premiership clubs take ownership of organising, broadcasting rights and other commercial activity. The premier league is the same/similar.
  23. My case proven your honour. Let the people who pay make the calls, basic business and common sense that somehow has been removed from so many so called RL supporters. You want to make them calls tip in the money
  24. It’s like watching 2 pub teams on a Sunday morning friendly after a Saturday of 12 pints and a curry.
