  1. Most of the brainless on here couldn’t understand the concept that Sky bought into, how it benefitted RL by the increase in FT teams outside SL and the interest in relegation/promotion battles. They also didn’t understand two tens of FT clubs with P&R. Typical government employee mentality abounds
  2. Would they if say a London took their spot now with no relegation unless by financial failure til 2027
  3. Fans/sponsors rally around sell out all 3 immediately and put £1m in the bank. Will they?
  4. You can get a good idea with a decent investigation
  5. Life's easy when you play with other peoples money
  6. Its not Hearn - doesnt have the cash or US PPV pull.
  7. Why suggest? We demand as part of any negotiation - especially if we have a place we want to end up at.
  8. Just like most of all our major team sports then
  9. You know the answer to that! No new owner would be willing to take on a business with no assets and millions in debt. RU owe how much and how many clubs rolled with how much debt these past couple of years
  10. Which bit about commentary and coverage went over your head - perception is key to all this
  11. Only those who rely on others to pay for their pleasures
  12. Strong RL areas will always find somebody to chip in, but all will have the ability to do so at varying levels. Salford is not a strong RL area, it’s no longer sexy as it was in the Willows days and another Wilky is hard to find. They seem to believe in giving tickets away to grow crowds but that creates even less value on the club, a classic was our play off game probably threw away £100k in ticket sales to not look silly on tv.
  13. I would go as far as we are probably better moving away from Sky/pay TV completely until a fair deal is reached. If we had 2 games a weekend on BBC every week and got nothing for it but the coverage/commentary was spot on - would we be able to recover the £1.25m per club we currently get? is it time to build our value by walking away? What would the sponsorship value be to have your name on free tv for 4/6 hours a week with highlights show? Both as a comp and as a club? What would the perception be, what value increase would the sport get? basic numbers ask each club to generate £1.25m pa extra. If streaming of non tv fixtures brought in 100k subscribers at £10 a month that’s £1m per club - prices and numbers adjusted to play with numbers. Sponsorship and gates would more than fill the void imo
  14. It is for RL as we are ignored in the papers and have shocking Sky coverage that constantly plays the sport down, if only BBC can get some cameramen and commentators
  15. Salford spending £1.7m is like another club spending £3m as bills do t seem to get paid
  16. Fred Done is the big hope imo, who else will take on the £4-6m of debt
  17. I couldn’t name you a single RU player, 30 years ago I could name most international ones. Love cricket but couldn’t name Lancs players that don’t play for England. We simply need regular top drawer internationals on terrestrial TV
  18. They all can leave for free if the wages don’t get paid
  19. The £500k advance was silly, when wages bounce do all players become free agents? Have Salford sold season tickets?? Hope fans don’t get screwed
  20. Who’d a thunk it two tens was the way - probably still have the big tv deal if we had gone a few years ago
  21. All SL clubs should go and franchises given to Premier league soccer clubs
  22. Sport lives off ambition and ambition is expensive, business plans should be realistic and owners fully understanding the levels of loss they will have to cover. RL needs another £25m on the contract and IMG are as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
  23. As has been posted on this thread, Beaumont bit the bullet took the flak and did what was right for Leigh RL in 2018. Salford have refused to do the same, awful management of the highest order. Any fool can see that selling the silver then fleecing the fans still didn’t balance the books, but it did get a PG off someone’s house. A reset is needed and that may mean relegation as any philanthropist would want a clean slate to build from rather than a basket case of a business. IMG have simply been a waste of £500k add that to the last waste of space and the Bradford fiasco and the pay offs and ridiculous salaries and the clowns really do run the circus
  24. Wigan will get 2500 tickets which leaves less than 1000 in general sale, of course it will sell out
