  1. [ As it stands where about 80-90 points better off than barrow, with thier two matches in hand they would start to close the gap. personally i think our points points difference will be sufficient remember in the next four games barrow play leigh, halifax, toulouse at home and batley away irrespective of results I think they all will be close scoring games. similarly their last three are kieghley at home then dewsbury and FEV away and I can see a couple more close encounters in those unless we have won ther league by then and owt could happen in last match!
  2. all good and proper people being told on forum about reserve games but what about those who don't use it. For some reason there are no fixtures or results listed for the reserves on the clubs website POOR!!!!!!!
  3. now we all know we've got a bundle of land. in the past there's been talk of a business park supermarket et al. but still nothing down on paper. I think its time to change tack. lets build houses on the land. why houses? 1 government policy to build more affordable housing all over the country so lets build basic houses for rent, as its government policy nailed on planning permission especially as there are plans afoot to build 400 new homes adjacent to our land. 2 at the moment the going rate for rental in FEV is give or take
  4. When we build the new ground we should make it carbon neutral, for example put wind turbines on top of floodlights or solar panels on roof. collect our own water. we don't need to generate much initial power just enough to run a turbine then bobs your uncle. why carbon neutral? 1 the government are falling over them selves for such projects', the environment agency is throwing money about in the form of grants to achieve this objective. a business friend of mine is considering this for his factory and told me to convert existing site to carbon neutral you can get up to 50% of all costs 2 because government policy planning permission nailed on 3 when not in use all power can be sold back to national grid. Quids in. DISCUSS
  5. now we seem to be upgrading what we've got I hope we don't go down the soulless all seater football type stadium route we have just been to halifax leigh and widnes all very pretty but no atmosphere two stands closed. what's that all about? Before people go off on one I'm not talking about a vast swathe of terracing. all we need is what we've got today 10 high with 10 rows of seats behind or above. Something similar to the one behind the sticks at headingley would be ideal Why terracing? 1 better atmosphere remember the bullock and it was a lot better in the old main stand when terracing in front of seats. added bonus fewer seats mean people have to sit closer together better atmosphere ground looks fuller. 2 gets crowd closer to pitch give players stick once again the bullock and what they nowget from back of sticks make them fearful of coming to FEV! 3 terracing a lot cheaper. remember you've got to build terracing first before you plonk a bit of plastic on it, so get rid of the plastic. 4 terracing significantly increases capacity without increasing the footprint of the existing ground taken from last months Rugby League World. In it they assess teams applying for next round of franchise and I quote""The Big Fellas Stadium as it has become known this season currently has a capacity of 6800 which would rise towards 11 000 with the installation of crush barriers on the terracing" if this is true then for little cost we've got the capacity to tick another box on the francise without radical change. so please BOD DON'T act like scared rabbits in the headlights of sky and the rfl and build something that looks nice on the tele but is not fit for purpose. lets build a fan friendly ground with four small stands, a proper rugby league venue! 6. Finally the sky myth that barrow have the best defence in the league has ben blown out of the water. every thursday night it got mentioned and it always brought a smile to my face. and yes they had conceded fewer points than anyone else but they had played fewer matches anothrt case of sky lazy journalism when it comes to the championship another thing in last nights game couldn't understand why eagles didn't take the two in the second half at 20 apiece put barrow behind and maybe create some doubt because they kept pegging them back they did it at 6 nowt very strange
  7. unlucky last night a couple of descisions could have gone either way that led to barrow tries but couldn't understand why eagles didn't take the two in the second half at twenty apiece put raiders behind and maybe create some doubt in them as you kept pegging them back you took two at six nowt, very strange
  8. moving the kickoff is a bit annoying because it spoils my sun afternoon in the B&S but I can understand the club wanting to utilise the potential of income from bar sales from people wanting to watch ingurland. however onthe widnes forum theres alot of people talking about not coming now its moved cant please everyone. whats made me laugh about this reading on other forums and the muted hysteria about ingurland and the need to watch haven't people heard of sky plus
  9. I recently did a posting about the new ground and 400 houses being built on ponte road today I have recieved a leaflet with a plan of the proposed site and its a fair chunk of land It starts adjacent to the allotments behind the white house down ponte road to jubilee steps then right adjacent to path taking in all of old allotment toward the ground. it then appears to extend to the back of the family stand right up to the raiway end of the stand. It then goes across the training pitch, which is interesting, back to the white house. to coincide with this there is a drop in community event at chesneys weds june 30th from 4 pm to 8 pm where there will be a chance to: "view the future stadium redevelopment proposals"
  10. can any one give me the line up for the final as at the moment there is some debate in the B& S regarding the centres thanks
  11. A certain Mr W Fawley
  12. I wouldnt belive the sun if they told me today was saturday remember the lies told about the hillsborough tragedy but if he goes good kuck to the lad he owes us nowt! Personnaly, however, I don't think jesse is super league standard hasnt got that explosive pace over first ten yards unlike zac. I would be more dissapointed if we lost welham
  13. Taken from pont and cas Taylor Wimpey Plans to create 400 new homes in Featherstone off pontefract road. The firm owns land stretching from pontefract road behind station lane to post office road. A community drop in event where people can provide comments to be held at chesneys Weds June 30th An update on Featherstone rovers new stadium scheme will also be available as the two firms are working together to deliver their seperate initiatives As we dont seem to be getting any closer to building a business park, would these proposals enable us to build houses on the patch we own and effectively become landlords recieving income year in year out?
  14. First we had Calland with "we have got better players than Featherstone" then Millward chipped in with "we have better forwards than Featherstone" now McCormack has had his say. Barrow Raiders manager Steve McCormack believes that his side can still finish top of the Championship. He told BBC Cumbria: "We're still in the mixer. Because of our successful Challenge Cup run we're still a couple of games behind everybody and will be boosted by the return to action of key players James Coyle and James Nixon." Don't you just love em?
  15. Thursday 27th May 2010 Leigh Centurions can today confirm that Robbie Paul will miss a significant amount of game time due to a groin injury sustained during the Centurions' televised Co-operative Championship match with Widnes Vikings. Leigh Coach Ian Millward said; "Robbie picked up an injury during the Widnes game, and it required surgery. The operation was a success, and we expect him to be back with us in six to eight weeks."
  16. NO its a must irrespective of home crowds. At the minute the ground hosts cup finals at all levels and sexes we have recently hosted an amateur international and have held world cup games. WE need to move to the next level remember the keepmoat hosted a challenge cup semi- final and on the 12th the LSV holds a full international. So it would be benificial to the club to get similar exposure.
  17. theres no arguing that its all HYPERTHETICAL!!!!!!!!
  18. dear me give me strength we are not talking about dropping or swapping anybody dont you understand the concept of hyperthetical the question was if you had to who would you drop so once again it would be the fullback playing on the wing not a recognised winger playing on the wing!!!!!!
  19. just checked rfl wesite and toulouse haven't got anyone up before the beaks for incidents in our game think the board should make a fuss about it because the tackle on jamie was a neck breaker and the lad should have been banned indefinately
  20. Why was it hard robin it was an answer to a the hypothetical question of who would you drop for larsen and I said Tommy not because he was playing badly but because on the wings we had john steele a winger and tommy a fullback so to play another winger you drop the fullback simples
  21. With the money being saved from larsens contract who would you like to see brought in to complement the team. Personally I would like to see a big lump in the front row. Why? well at the moment we are scoring lovely tries from build up play, great movement off the ball, putting players through the gap. so give me a big nasty lump who when he's near the line makes his own gap!!!!!!!!
  22. did i get it wrong or did the lad who tried to break jamies neck get put on report because it isn't on the rfl website got to admit by then was in astate of shock by the performance so could easily have made it up !!!!!!!!
  23. what the world class centre danny allan?
  24. regarding the morrison incident when he called a scrum like many baffled me but it turns out he got the descision half right. watched the ansac test over the weekend and same thing happened the commentators said what should happen next and the ref mr silverwood I think duly obliged. on thusday the correct decision according to OZ should have been a scrum down which he gave and head and feed to the team in possesion which he didn't. Still don't know if its right but they seemed confident of the out come
