Doncaster Rugby League ensured it was two wins from two in the cup competitions with a big victory in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third round against Conference Premier Division side West Hull.

Head coach Gary Thornton handed Aaron Jones-Bishop and Matthew Cook debuts, whilst Tom Carr returned to the side after missing last weekend's victory against North Wales Crusaders through injury.

Liam Welham got Doncaster into an early lead, pouncing on a loose ball, kicking forwards before scoring the opening try, with Tom Carr adding the conversion.

Prop forward Connor Scott powered over from close range to extend the lead for Doncaster and Carr was again successful with the boot.

Debutant Jones-Bishop was next on the score-sheet, after some slick handling from the Doncaster half-back's, Matthew Cook broke downfield, before finding the winger on the outside, who ran in under the posts, with Carr kicking Doncaster into a 18-0 lead.

Jones-Bishop then went in for his second try, again combining with Cook who sent him over in the corner and the former Oxford man provided a Superman finish to ensure he avoided touch and scored the try. Carr converted fantastically from the touchline.

Interchange Matthew Nicholson then came on and scored with his first touch, powering over under the posts, to ensure the tie was almost over at the break, with Carr kicking Doncaster into a 30 point lead.

Half Time: West Hull 0-30 Doncaster

After the break Doncaster's dominance continued, Nicholson's offload provided Kieran Cross space and he found Jordie Hedges who weaved over for his third try in two games. Carr again converted the goal.

Another Doncaster break led to Matthew Welham breaking through the West Hull defence and he ran in, to score Doncaster's seventh try of the afternoon, with Carr again adding the extras.

Captain Kyle Kesik was next to find a hole in the home side's defence, he didn't quite have the legs to make it himself, so kicked through for young second rower Jack Walton to score, with Carr kicking Doncaster into a 48-0 lead.

Prop Scott rounded off the Dons try scoring with another close range effort, showing his strength to power over close to the West Hull line, with Carr converting for the ninth and final time.

West Hull thought they were over at the death, however the try was disallowed for a forward pass, as Doncaster avoided a giant killing and progressed to the fourth round of the Challenge Cup with an impressive victory.

Full Time: West Hull 0-54 Doncaster

Dons tries: L. Welham, Scott x 2, Aaron Jones-Bishop x 2, Nicholson, Hedges, M. Welham, Walton.
