PREVIEW | Horne preparing for Whitehaven clash

Richard Horne believes preparation will be key ahead of the Dons trip to Whitehaven this weekend.

The squad will travel to Cumbria a day before the game, in order to give them the best chance of returning with the win.

He said: “Whitehaven is a tough place to go, it’s a really tough point in the season for us and we’ll travel down the day before to make it easier.

“If you travel on the day it’s a four hour trip and you don’t feel great when you arrive there so we’ve chosen to go about it slightly different.

“We didn’t get going when we faced Workington and we didn’t want that happening to us again so we made the decision to prepare for it.”

A victory at the Recreation Ground would make it six in a row for Horne’s side in Betfred League One, in what is a key period in the season.

He added: “We started the season well and then had a tough spell, now we seemed to have found some form and we’re picking up good results.

“We’ve managed to win a few games in a row and that has ensured we’re in and around where we want to be.

“If we get the result then we’re four points above them with just a few games to go so there is a real incentive for us to get the job done.”
