Richard Horne says the Dons won’t be taking Coventry lightly in the Challenge Cup third round tie on Friday night.

The Bears have won two of their three games so far this season, and the head coach has been impressed with their progress.

He said: “They are a team that have recruited well and improved a lot, the result they got against Newcastle proves that.

“Conditions didn’t help them last time out against Keighley, but they’re full of energy and defend really well.

“Their development is pleasing to see, they’ve been down there for a few years but they’re showing progress now.”

Horne believes the break from league action will allow him to rotate his squad and assess the options available to him.

He said: “It gives me an opportunity to give some lads a run out in different places, cup competitions are always exciting and we want to go as far as we can.

“It will give us a chance to increase or decrease game time to those that need it and prepare for the league game a week later.

“If you can get the win on a Friday night it means the boys can enjoy their weekend with family and friends.”

Tickets for the game against Coventry in the Challenge Cup third round are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576, or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
