Wigan missed out on a place in the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi Finals going down 20-10 to Hull FC at Emerald Headingley Stadium.

Tries from Jake Bibby and the returning Dom Manfredi weren’t enough on the day, with the Black and Whites advancing in the competition.

In wet and wild conditions in Leeds, the two sides eased their way into the Quarter Final with no real threatening moves in the earlier stages.

The Warriors broke the deadlock in the 10th minute through in-form back Jake Bibby.

A mistake in the play of the ball from FC gave Wigan good field position in the Black and Whites’ half. A move down the right saw the winger go over in the corner on the last.

Hull then got on the scoresheet just three minutes later through Chris Satae. A knock on from Liam Byrne gave Hull possession in the Wigan 20, which Satae eventually took advantage of, crashing over the whitewash under the posts.

Marc Sneyd extended FC’s lead in the 21st, converting a penalty from 20 metres out.

Hull’s Jack Brown was sent to the bin in the 34th minute following a dangerous tackle to the knees of Wigan’s Joe Shorrocks.

Sneyd added two more points with a penalty kick in the 56th after Morgan Smithies was judged to have made late contact with Josh Reynolds.

Satae scored his second of the game in the 65th minute, taking advantage of a Bevan French knock on which gave the Black and Whites good field position.

Appearing for the first time in 2021, Dom Manfredi came off to score in the 79th minute, latching onto a chip to the corner from Bevan French.

Hull managed to grab a final try in the dying seconds of the game, with Adam Swift picking up a loose ball from Wigan to run home from 60 metres.
