Two great Rugby League servants join Roll of Honour

Recommended Posts

Two men who have given outstanding off-field service to Rugby League over many decades had their contributions recognised today (Sunday) when they were inducted on to the RFL Roll of Honour.

The Roll of Honour was introduced in 2003 and recognises individuals who have performed exceptionally on behalf of the game over a long period of time as administrators and/or volunteers.

Tim Adams and Jim Spencer were formally inducted at the Rugby League Lions' luncheon, an event which is staged annually in aid of the RFL Benevolent Fund.

Adams was inducted for his contribution to the game as a club director with Sheffield Eagles and Huddersfield Giants, as well as his outstanding contribution to the RFL Benevolent Fund, on which he serves as Chairman.

Jim Spencer QC has been a key figure in the RFL disciplinary process for more than 20 years, during which time he has served as Chairman of the disciplinary committee and been a cornerstone of the legal support service given to the RFL.

Welcoming both men on to the Roll of Honour, RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer paid tribute to their selfless efforts.

"On behalf of everyone involved in Rugby League, I would like to congratulate Jim and Tim on their deserved induction on to the Roll of Honour," said Rimmer.

"The important role that volunteers play in sport has captured the headlines since the Olympics and it is right and proper that the expertise, the energy and the time that Tim and Jim have invested in Rugby League over many years is recognised in this way."
