#3088487 Only one RL story on the BBC Sports news tonight

Posted by steef on 13 March 2015 - 10:46 PM

He seems to not be learning his lessons. Would be a massive shame for his talent to be wasted due to off field nonsense.

#3082471 Is Joe Burgess a liability for Wigan?

Posted by steef on 03 March 2015 - 11:15 PM

Burgess will be fine. I'm sure he will know he needs to cut out the errors and equally sure wane will be reminding him. As has been said errors can be rectified more easily than a lack of talent can. People are correct to say that we are far to brutal on our young players. look at Kevin Penny, granted he is doing well again now but I would say he would be a better player if Warrington had kept him and worked out the issues in his game.

The roosters will know that they aren't getting the finished article when they sign a 20 year old from SL.

#3077720 Hock to Leigh

Hock could have been anything he wanted. as big a waste of talent that there ever was.

#3067554 7 Feb: Warrington Wolves v Salford Red Devils KO 3pm

Posted by steef on 06 February 2015 - 06:28 PM

On Edwards it baffles why people think he would be a good coach after so long out of the game. Would need to be an assistant first IMHO. As for the game it really depends on how Salford come together with so many new players, if they click they can beat wire but at home I expect wire to win by a score or 2 in a good game.

#3065321 Superbowl Another fantastic advert for Rugby League !

Posted by steef on 02 February 2015 - 07:02 PM

First time watching it last night, also the last time. To much stopping takes out any engagement from me and saps the intensity out of the game.

Of course political and social issues contribute greatly towards terrorism but for as long as there are people who believe what is written in "holy" books people will have any number of reasons to commit terrible acts against others.

Also, no one has a right to not be offended.

#3033391 New Kits 2015

think the wakey kits are grim. blue looks like a camo kit gone wrong and the white looks like a faded newspaper.

#3031187 <insert random name> next England Coach?

Posted by steef on 11 November 2014 - 12:03 PM

bobby goulding or being as we only need a coach for a few weeks a year it could be perfect for sean long as that seems to be how long he can last in any job he has.

#3019085 "Rugby league's international failure is spectacular"

opptomists, the glass is half full.
pessemists, the glass is half empty.
RL fans, the glass is broken into a million pieces.

#3016252 They just don't get it.......

Posted by steef on 19 October 2014 - 09:33 AM

i think that, due to the 6 tackle rule wich effectively says that both teams should spend roughly 50% of the game attacking and 50% defending (before errors/penalties) means that players have to be well rounded and capable of doing everything reasonably well. very effective attackers cannot get away with being bad defenders and vice versa. Also the fact that teams cannot monopolise posession means they need to have the skills to score when they do have the ball, the lack of complex restarts means the players only have to train on deffence and attack rather than say scrums and lineouts, this enables players like james graham to expand his skill set to be a ball player whereas a union prop will spend much time practicing the restarts that little time will be available for attack.

the sheer relentlessnes of top level RL also makes our players fit enough to handle the demands of most other similar sports.

all imho.

#3008799 Sports personality of the year

Posted by steef on 06 October 2014 - 11:11 PM

a presenter on talksport reffered to burgess as "possibly the best athlete england has ever produced" today which took me by surprise.

#3006590 05/10/14 - Oldham v Hunslet Hawks KO 4.05pm (TV)

Posted by steef on 02 October 2014 - 10:54 PM

Is Hunslets ground any more suitable for the second division? I would have though that Oldham would play bigger games at Boundary Park (I could see the Roughyeds drawing some big gates next year)

should oldham win, where they will play is still unknown. it cant be whitebank as it sadly isn't fit for our current division let alone the one above. Nor sure what our relationship with the football club is currently but woukd be great if an affordable deal could be worked out with them regardless of the result in the final. Good luck to the boys really hope we can finally win one!
