#3246818 An Australian perspective on Burgess and Graham

I know they both play in the pack but they are completely different to one another in what they bring to a team so comparison is difficult. As said above we are lucky to have them both. At full strength and in form our pack could be a pretty frightening prospect for other nations.

The trouble with whitebank is that even if it was developed it will never be SL standard so should the club be able to consolidate itself in the Championship that would be as far as we could go. If we could play at boundary park then we could potentially build for SL one day. Sadly I think that there are issues between the football clubs owners and Chris Hamilton that will prevent this.

As stated above vandalism is a problem at whitebank that must be discouraging for those involved.

What's the long-term plan? Is there one?

Supposedly to develop whitebank up to standard whilst playing at bower fold. I have yet to hear of anyone who thinks this will happen, the money isn't there and whitebank needs a great deal doing to it to make it anything like fit for purpose.

No doubt a few people won't go due to where it is but I would imagine more people will go as it isn't whitebank. I will be going again next season and I haven't been to whitebank for years.

Agree 100%. They should be our "all blacks" over the years the rugby they have produced and the players who have produced it have been outstanding. With the gap between the top 3 sides being as narrow as I can remember if the game can get the international game structures right and market it right the future could be very bright. The shame is that those are 2 big ifs.

Used to love going to the wigan 7's at central park. Oldham even won it one year!
Think a pre season SL 9's day/weekend would be great.

Edwards was one of the fiercest competitors I've ever seen on a rugby field, he hated losing and had some real mongral about him. Well deserved hall of famer.

I would be in favour of increasing the number of the players on the bench but reducing the number of substitutions allowed.

#3231581 14 Nov: 3rd Test - England v New Zealand (Wigan, KO 1pm) Match Thread

Thought our biggest problem last week was the speed of our play of the ball. The forwards were generally making good metres after contact but due to this and the tacklers this attracts they were getting put on their backs to often. The kiwi forwards seemed to be hitting the ground very quickly and giving quick play the balls letting their forwards make most of their meters before contact or have the chance to offload before contact. It was like a death by a thousand cuts.

As others have said we really need to be more expansive at Wigan, especially if the kiwis defend so narrow again. Would bring smith in for Williams as I don't think it's the kind of game to be handing out a debut to gale. Would be tempted to put cudjoe in too and have Bateman on the bench, with ferres starting and farrell missing out.

#3228473 Burgess leaves Bath

Would be great if he came out and said that the criticism of him had nothing to do with his decision and that he simply found union to be very, very boring and that having cracked the international team in less than a year that the expected challenge hadn't really materialised.

I always think that half backs should be a partnership rather than one on the left, one on the right.

Aren't wigan due one of their experimental kits this year? They're usually good for a laugh.
