  1. Olly A-B has been brilliant this season. Snap him up before the Monsieur Frayssinous gets his hands on him !
  2. So sad to hear about John, lovely guy and always had time to speak and mix with whoever. I last chatted with him at Toulouse when Batley came down last season and told him he was NOT allowed to retire. So many memories of him in France, especially at Perpignan with me and my late wife who adored him. So sad to hear of his passing. Sincere condolences to his family. I hope there will be a minutes silence or applause at this weekends matches.
  3. Certainly is good value, a very convivial way to spend a Sunday…
  4. I can’t see RL as a summer game in France for the reasons stated in previous posts. The present set-up isn’t perfect but I can’t see how it can be greatly improved except for Albi and others to play their games at a more practical time and not 1900 hrs on a Saturday evening. Ironically, their next match v Lezignan is Sunday afternoon at 1600 preceded by a meal etc Some common sense at last !
  5. Superb from KR, TO did well but class will always tell. Pons had a great debut and Ulberg impressed back from injury. Not a bad TO performance as silly as it sounds but you just have to sit back and appreciate the quality of the opposition as most French fans did. Amazing travelling support, great effort from the Robins fans. Great entertainment with only five penalties in total.
  6. The Albi players i’ve -chatted with today reckon the ref was far too pedantic, especially for example when he heard bad language from the players. He was a lino at the Toulouse v Wigan game and they reckon the power has gone to his head !
  7. Catalans played their match v Saints at Stade St Michel in Canet in 2006. It only has an official capacity of 3400 but I seem to recall more than that in attendance.
  8. Yeah, Mazamet , close to Castres is équidistant (roughly) between the two towns so an excellent choice of ground. Albi struggled with the opposition first half but the superior fitness made a big difference in the second. Albi were surprised with the quality of ball movement , VARL are a decent side.
  9. Yeah , they played ok imo. They do lack the quality of other teams but they compète well and their fitness levels are excellent. Good to see Shorrocks back to his best after the injury. Luke Polselli did ok on debut though he’s not the biggest to take high balls but he did ok, Wigan obviously targeted him. Tropis again impressed as did Jussaume who worked his socks off yet again. Houles was really pleased with the performance against the top side in SL. Sounds obvious but playing such a good side tells them of the levels they are aspiring to..
  10. They did Stansted - Toulouse which went off ok according to the chap I spoke with.
  11. Yeah but in place of who ? Lacans has been superb so far.
  12. Jake Shorrocks back in squad, is Rouge second choice ? Two handy half-backs but Shorrocks shaving it on the kicking side, going by the first two games.
