  1. Can I just say , I find the increasing use of a simple crash ball on last tackle pretty tedious . To a big degree it’s because of the 7 tackle set and now the contested short drop out . It’s really negative though as a spectacle , you don’t roll the dice you don’t get the reward . It shows to a degree , in the NRL especially , a bit of a risk averse mindset at times . You see some lovely tries of little grubbers . Have a go or you’ll never know as someone said ( me I just made it up ) .I’d scrap the 7 tackle set it’s a terrible pointless rule , and the short drop out is like a shiny new toy with everyone wanting to use it
  2. Very watchable first half for all the frayed edges . London hit the front !
  3. And yet we still let fullbacks and wingers jump for high balls with their leg out and studs up and that’s not a player safety issue . Someone like Lomax who has his eye on the ball trying to compete every time may have a different opinion . Yet we focus relentlessly on some things . The NRL also has a tendency to bring in edicts and clampdowns throughout a season , sometimes when the media pick something up . Right or wrong that must be confusing . Everything should be set before a ball is kicked in game one
  4. This should have been stopped to save the crowd from further punishment
  5. The commentators deserve credit for commentating on this to the end and not going home
  6. And ‘ they’re the second best team in the world and there’s no higher praise than that ‘
  7. As Ron Atkinson said ‘ I never criticise referees and I’m not making an exception for that burk ‘
  8. Can having your arms spread out appealing for a penalty not be a penalty like dissent
