  1. First time Ive watched the Viaplay coverage. Replays were a bit weird, but commentary was OK and the pre and post match stuff was pretty good. Quite a long interview with Mark Aston, and I assume with the Swinton coach too (I was informed I'd been watching long enough by then). Cooke and Amor were good as well. Not convinced by the half time food testing - eating a sausage with a wooden fork isn't the best idea.
  2. I'm planning that one later when I'm going quicker. Happy to be slow this week.
  3. I'll let you know - I think it's up first, then round the top, then down to the end. Cambridge parkrun has come back from the dead, reimagined as Milton Country parkrun. Now i only have 3 dead parkruns in my portfolio.
  4. Ran at Market Bosworth on 8th and Millhouses (Sheffield) yesterday. Market Bosworth was a new one for me near Leicester. Nice two lapper but I was feeling a bit tired. I'm in the middle of a 30 day challenge to run 5K per day for charity. Some days I'm Ok but others it's a real slog. Up to 332 parkruns now at 106 locations. Next up, a new one at Beacon Hill in Leicestershire.
  5. Newcastle are toast by the look of it. Barrow aren't that bad, surely? And Haven have picked up a lot of points now. Swinton as the second relegated club?
  6. No Titus Gwaze for Sheffield - two metal plates in his jaw from an illegal elbow by a Newcastle player, who got 1 match. He's out for 3 months I reckon, and has been one of Sheffield's best players this season. Anyway, plenty of talent in this Eagles side so they should win by at least 16.
  7. SATURDAY 15th APRIL Keighley Cougars v Toulouse Olympique Cougars by 4 SUNDAY 16 APRIL Bradford Bulls v Batley Bulldogs Bradford by 8, if they are using DR again Halifax Panthers v York Knights Halifax by 4 London Broncos v Featherstone Rovers Fev by 20 Whitehaven v Newcastle Thunder Haven by 16 Widnes Vikings v Barrow Raiders Widnes by 8
  8. Surely RU has the same issue with Pacific players? They also have to go to Italy and South Africa for club games. They either get it sorted or we just don't hear about it.
  9. "I'm 75 and played when you could tackle round the hed and be unlucky if you gave away a penalty and I'm OK. Also, my mum's got dementia and she never played" That kind of thing? Grim, isn't it.
  10. If anyone can predict on a given week how Sheffield are going to perform in the first 20 minutes, please put it on postcard to M. Aston, OLP, Sheffield.
  11. Barrow by 8 Eagles by 12 Widnes by 8 Fev by 16 Toulouse by 10 York by 8
  12. Gradually getting quicker over the last few weeks since my struggles at Buckingham. On Saturday I went to Market Rasen, which runs on the service road inside the racetrack, and ran sub 25, and above 65% WAVA score for the first time in ages. Last week I was at Selby, which is a bit bleak to be honest as it runs around an old airfield. Anyway, that's 330 now at 105 different venues. I'm 1,900th in the league table of UK people who've been to more than 30 parkruns. The leader has over 600 different events and there are more than 27,000 people on that list.
  13. I don't know whether the directives are clear or not as I'm not involved any more. Rugby Union has made it very clear, but not everyone is happy with their directives!
  14. It was contact to the head, from the blind side, with something around the elbow area. Not particularly late, maybe a fraction, and I think the intent was to hit Aston hard. Which is OK, but you'd better make sure you get it right. Kirmond didn't. As you say, this is the new normal, and in fact it may get stricter.
  15. The game was won in the first 20 when Sheffield showed York (and themselves) zero respect. The only way back from that was handed to them by the red card and they still couldn't take it.
  16. York probably deserved that because of how they dominated the 13 v 13. If Sheffield had tackled like they did in the last 20 minutes in the first 20, they wouldn't have had such problems.
  17. It will be interesting what happens at disciplinary, but it's certainly given Sheffield a shot at a game they don't deserve to be anywhere near winning. I wondered which Sheffield would turn up, and it's Odsal Sheffield rather than the one that battered Toulouse and Batley.
  18. Not sure it will, as York could easily score again at any point, and Sheffield have done some things I would be disappointed with if I was coaching an U13 team.
  19. So did I and it was an elbow to the head. Hard to determine intent, but it was dangerous.
  20. I've replayed it. Elbow to the head from behind. Not massively late, but it's just not tolerated these days.
  21. SATURDAY 1st APRIL Keighley Cougars v North Wales Crusaders Keighley by 30 London Broncos v Doncaster London by 20 Rochdale Mayfield v Newcastle Thunder Thunder by 12 SUNDAY 2nd APRIL Dewsbury Rams v Widnes Vikings Vikings by 12 Halifax Panthers v Barrow Raiders Halifax by 12 Hunslet ARLFC v Batley Bulldogs Batley by 30 Midlands Hurricanes v Bradford Bulls Bulls by 40 York Knights v Sheffield Eagles Sheffield by 6
  22. In which case, I have no idea what this thread is about, apart from an obvious swipe at Warrington. Seems to be a list of failed clubs.
  23. Why are you having a pop at the Outlaws? At least they have their own ground.
  24. I haven't worked out if this is brilliant or cringemaking, but it's certainly weird. If IMG are driving "engagement", they'd better be prepared for more of this kind of thing.
  25. Not sure, there are only 2 league rounds before the Fev-Sheff game!
