  1. Being "safe" doesn't develop the ground though.
  2. Who's to say the VAT amount is accurate anyway? It'll include VAT on all sorts of stuff besides gate receipts. Match sponsorship, pies, beer, hot dogs ....
  3. I would like to make it clear that I didn't know this. Include me out.
  4. What are the penalties for cheating ? Half a point is it ? That could be really vital around the margins. If they don't concentrate on the clubs around the A/B threshold and the Superleague/Championship threshold, I'd be surprised.
  5. Probably do what the Drug Fellas do and turn up unannounced.
  6. Well, we'll see. Something else might come up, who knows?
  7. Well, no, that might have been the intention but there have been changes at Sheffield United. I don't follow soccer so I'm reluctant to post a summary of events but, broadly, Sheffield United Women were going to play there and now they're not. As a result, I'm not convinced that the current leaseholders have the same entusiasm for the OLP project as they had, say, five years ago.
  8. True. They get nine months to file, easy enough to get an extra three months by bringing forward the ARD by a day, result - plenty of November accounts filed in the second half of November the following year.
  9. Only a handful of clubs don't have a 30th November year end, though. That's when player contracts run to. But 31st December or 31st October wouldn't be hugely different. It's not like there's a lot of activity at that time of year.
  10. Fair point - though not many clubs have their accounts audited these days.
  11. Well, they could buy the lease. Then they could collect rent off the other users. I'm not saying they plan to do that or that the lease is for sale but it's clearly possible.
  12. They're not always released. Clubs do say but they've no obligation to do that. They publish accounts every year and those accounts will be more detailed in the near future because of Companies Act changes. For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not expecting clubs to post every transaction on line.
  13. To be fair, folk on here are always talking about attendances, which are commercially sensitive. It's sport. Folk are more interested in Leeds Rhinos than they are in Tesco.
  14. I think there are a couple of things that will be changed over the next few years. We may well just find better ways to measure what we want to measure or we may change the relationship between the five pillars. Who knows? Even pillars aren't set in stone.
  15. What about M62RL?
  16. You can't expect players to wait to see if a club that might not trade next season will offer them a contract.
  17. Cricket was full time during the summer. They were playing two three-day games a week with just Sundays off until the Sunday League came in in the late 1960s. It's worth reading a few autobiographies of the pre-war players to get a feel for how they coped with playing at one end of the country one day and starting a game at the other end the following day. Trains were a lot more frequent in those days, of course, but, on the other hand, cars were virtually unknown to the professional players.
  18. Tommy - these people were just lounge lizards with wallets full of money earned from the backs of the working classes. The comparison is bizarre.
  19. Rugby Union ? Full of "gentlemen" players ?
  20. Exactly. But for some reason you claimed in the same post that they wouldn't be relegated because of their grading.
  21. So it's because of their grading.
  22. Yes - they're rapidly flashing lights. We've left games early before now but we avoid the problem these days by not going to grounds with LED boards. Not entirely what IMG were intending, of course......
