  1. With any luck mr Watson will be gone by the end of this season, this is year 4 now and if anyone can see any improvement in our team they must be watching a different side to me. We were ok with his safety style of play for a season but as soon as sides worked it out they simply ran round us. I bet Hkr of Salford sides cost nothing like what Watson has had to spend and yet they both leave us for dead. We still keep playing players who are championship standard in vital positions, can you imagine players getting picked in a Wigan or saints side or any other side because they calm things down can you see hkr dropping Lewis for someone who calms things down , players like Lewis open up defences take on the line and are exciting to watch who wants that, not mr watson
  2. Pretty much agree with this, He would be a good signing for pretty much any club in superleague and i'm happy with it but the truth is it is not our forwards that have disappointed, We have not replaced Levi with anything like a decent player and despite all the raps Watson gives Russel he is one of the players we should be looking to replace, We have lost good forwards through having too many of them and yet I W continues to put everything into the pack, He is on year 4 now of his 5 year plan with yet another crop of new players which seems a strange way to build the successful side he promised. Say what you like about K Davy he is not shy of spending his money , I can think of a few clubs he would have had far more success with , He has shown in the past that he is quite prepared to spend on coaches just as much as players so if the Giants flop again this coming season Mr Watson may not even get to coach Sam Burgess. I pray we have a good season this year cause god knows its time KD got something back for his money, We shall see in the fullness of time
  3. Some people have thought along those lines for some time now but i don't think he will be daft enough to sign Hood surely.
  4. Harry Huddersfield is a football town and always has been. Fartown have only had one brief spell since the Fifties ( a lifetime ago ) when crowds showed any signs of increasing to any degree and that was under Nathan browns tenure, We were playing football that was good to watch, we were winning our share of games and people were responding, Sadly that all went belly up but the lesson is clear to see. Under P Anderson we won the hubcap playing a different style of football altogether and it did nothing for our crowds. Regards Mr Davy and it costing him a fortune, I wouldn't worry about it mate , He has a few fortunes at his disposal, Nobody made him buy the Giants unless his good lady wife did, and you can rest assured you don't get as rich as he is by being a fool and not know what your doing. People forget ( of perhaps never knew ) that he also saved Huddersfield Town from extinction as well and ultimately got a lot of grief for his trouble, For me he deserves to be honored in some way but he is known mostly for his link to the Giants and the profile of League is very very low in contrast to football so his contributions will more than likely be ignored. Huddersfield is a big town with it's surrounding areas, and a successful side playing good rugby would get a reasonable crowd but there have been so many false dawns people have just turned away from League, They have to be won back and for me |It's all about whats on offer on the field, far more than cheap tickets and so forth ( although they may well help) Just my opinion of course and there will be plenty of different ones.
  5. He has been a joy to watch over the years, A great finisher and a true sportsman, I never saw him throw a punch or get involved in any kind of brawl despite him getting his share of rough treatment. If he's not retiring someone is going to get a very good player. The very best of luck to him.
  6. Sounds like you feel the same way as me, I couldn't care less who wins it , They are both Bl****** awful sides. It's just like one of them to play like world beaters when it's all too late, but i wouldn't want to bet which one of them
  7. No he isn't, I for one have been rooting for Wakey all season and i'm sorry to see them drop down and i hope they are not long getting back. Don't bank on your second statement , you'll be sadly disappointed
  8. So Daz with a set of forwards who buy and large have held their own with most sides for the last two seasons at least as regards field position, Halves , one of which you claim is one of the best , why are we such a poor side.
  9. Fair enough Daz, I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree about Russell, He's probably playing exactly as hes being told
  10. Only one of those three hookers would be retained for next year for me meast. I'm interested to note you are not convinced by the signing of Conner, I agree he is not the fastest of players but then who have we got in the squad that fit that criteria, He has a lot of experience and has had a hand in many of the tries later in this season with his bullet like pass to the wingers, He is far from Mr Watsons worst signings this year for me . The other thing is how many of the other S league sides do you recon Russel would get into, I'm genuinely interested in your opinion of him and why you hold it. He should have all he needs to be a quality half but for some reason he just doesn't cut it for me, But if he's being coached to play to a strict plan and forget about any flair and off the cuff stuff then maybe that could answer some questions. End of the day we have gone backwards this season in results with exactly the same style, What do you recon do you think we are going to get anywhere under Mr Watson
  11. Sadly i fear you are right Daz, More new players next year same dreary style.
  12. I hope you are not including me in your group of moaners meast, I do put my opinions up but they sometimes give credit to Watson as well as the opposite. The last line of your post seems to sum it up for me, That seems to be the attitude of the whole club, If we keep throwing money at it eventually our turn will come. My question to you meast is, If it were Wigan, Saints , Wolves, Hull and some others do you honestly believe he would still be there with his record . anyway he's had three of his five now near enough, lets hope next season it starts to come right, they are all his choice of players. I am just as big a fan as you meast and i want things to work out just as much, from what i have seen so far i just don't think he is the man to do it, I hope i'm wrong mate.
  13. Not to worry, next season will be our season, Recruiting is already well under way, We shall have an even bigger squad and probably still be playing an ageing centre in the back row. I'm not a big Watson fan although i don't say he is completely to blame for our position, Just my opinion but i don't think he can motivate the players, or at least that is my impression and i also don't think he is the best judge of a player, but most of all i don't like his style of football, but to be fair there are those who are quite happy with him, or are at least happy to give him more time, Fair enough there opinions are as valid as mine. End of the day it's what Mr Davy thinks that counts.
  14. We couldn't beat Salford if our team had a ball apiece, We win a couple of games and we sit back to enjoy our achievements. It's a good job for us that Wakey and Cas are so poor.
  15. This really is a tough one to call, Recent form suggests Wakey to take it but Cas are going to hit some kind of form at some point ( just like Wakey did ) after looking like they would never win again,This might be exactly the game to bring it out, Playing at home could just be enough to swing it but i would not place a bet either way. Who knows which club will be relegated, This is not the million pound game, both clubs have time yet, I have no real preference to who i would like to stay up but if i am being honest i think it would be a real shame for Wakey to go just when things are changing off the field for them, That doesn't mean i have anything against Cas at all, Also i am a fan of P&R and somebody has to go. Good luck to both sides and may the best team win, I just hope it isn't decided by a drop goal in extra time.
  16. I am one who has not been over the moon with Watsons style of coaching meast, iv'e never called for his sacking ( i don't think that i can remember ) but i would have been far from surprised if it had happened at some point in the dreadful run we had . There have been plenty coaches with no worse a record than Mr Watson who have lost their job and when you consider the money he has had to play with his record is nothing to shout about. To be honest at one or two of the ( bigger) more successful clubs he would have been down the road with both hands in one pocket long before now. I am as happy as the next person that we seem to have turned some sort of corner but four wins ( two against the bottom two sides ) is hardly enough for me to be throwing my cap in the air and booking my ticket for Old Trafford just yet, we have some very good sides to play yet. I've been watching this side for 70 years now and iv'e seen all the ups and down's in that time, and to be honest there have been more downs than up's so i make no apologies for my opinion ( and it is just my opinion ) that with the length of time he has been with the club and the money he has had to spend I just don't think his record is anything special, Yes we had a relatively good season last year but ultimately we won nothing, So yes happy to be getting a few wins again but feet still firmly on the ground.
  17. Tough grind that and i thought we just about edged it, Hull looked more dangerous than the Giants in spells but i think we looked the fitter side and were finishing the game stronger. I've not been Russel's biggest fan but i thought he played as well as iv'e ever seen him play and Conner looked better as well, Onward and upwards hopefully. Is there a rumour that swift is coming to the Giants next year or have i dreamed it, he would be a good signing if it's true, I would be happy with him and Halsall , Gerry can't go on for ever.
  18. What a cracker this should be, I can't call the winner but leopards being the team in better form at the moment you have to lean their way, Both are good to watch and i suppose it will depend on what teams they can field. Salford have given us some pain in the past and are a formidable side ,especially when Sneed is on form, but Leigh have been a real eye opener, you just cant knock them at all, cant call it but we can't have a draw. Can it be watched anywhere other than at the ground anyone
  19. That was the poorest wakey performance i have seen for a long time, I don't think they spent more than 15 minutes in the giants half in the whole game, they offered virtually no threat at all, Giants weren't fantastic they were just good ( compared to the last few weeks ) The whole side looks to have got a bit of pride back, Hope its not just temporary. I don't know what to think about Wakey or where they go from here, I really don't want to see them relegated just when they are getting things sorted off the field , they can obviously play better than they did tonight, they certainly didn't beat Wigan playing like that. Glad Fartown seem to be over some sort of crisis they looked good tonight but to be fair Wakey would have made any side look good, Onward and upward ( i hope )
  20. Maybe our views are not so different after all then , Possible just on the way to cure it
  21. So thats what we are down to is it then Daz after two and a half seasons and a fortune in Rugby league terms we are down to hoping to survive by hoping another team don't win. The last good coach we had was Nathan Brown you could see the players improving, practically on a weekly basis, I am struggling to see a single player that has improved under Watson, Last season we had one of the best packs in the league but the style of football we played meant that they scored more tries than the backs, not working this year is it and there is no plan B. Any side who have a bit of pace at all just run us ragged as we have seen many games this season, Our halves are just not up to it and some of the men Watson has brought in beggar belief , If we can drag them into a game of attrition we give ourselves the best chance , if we cant they just kill us with speed.. We have gone backwards from last season playing the same style ( because we don't have the skills to play any other) If you think it's all part of this 5 year plan fair enough you are entitled to your opinion, myself i think he is struggling, hopefully i'm wrong and K Davy isn't a man who sacks people without easily so i don't expect Watson to be going anywhere but i really hope we see some improvement soon otherwise he is going to be paying people to watch )
  22. Wigan had better watch out, Mr Watson says we shall be ok going forward.
