  1. It was quite ridiculously drinkable.
  2. I had some of that Glenmorangie in my house the other day. All gone now. *hic*
  3. I am drinking Jennings out of a Marstons glass.
  4. Photos by me in this blog.
  5. Ryan Adams has covered the entirety of Taylor Swift's '1989' album. I suspect this is a bit marmite but I'm enjoying what I've heard so far:
  6. They were out of the Highland so I'm currently supping the Taste the Difference Speyside. I'll write my review before I lose the ability to type: superb. (Needs a bit of ice IMO to draw out the flavour but it's a decent drop.)
  7. For a ten year old it's suspiciously dark in colour as well. And whilst I'm no snob I expect a bit of subtlety and nuance in what I'm drinking. This doesn't have any. Goes well with Coke.
  8. On the boat back from Belgium and they had some truly ordinary whiskies at supposedly amazing prices. I settled for something 20cl that actually had an age on it: Jura 10. It's bobbins*. Don't bother. (* = For the price you'd expect better. You could have Famous Grouse for less and enjoy it more.)
  9. I'll say that for £18 at Asda, Black Grouse is worth adding to anybody's sideboard.
  10. I love that all the comments under the articles about women's football are full of the 'no histrionics, no nastiness, no diving' mantra. Were you not watching - or were you so enrapt by the sight of Louise Necib that you forgot to concentrate? Great that the two teams took the play off game seriously. Some properly tasty challenges and both teams had chances away from the penalty. Cool as you like to bury it though - and a great feeling to finally emerge from a game like this (in all sports and both genders) with the honours. Third place isn't the title but it's so far ahead of where England were in the Hope Powell wildnerness years.
  11. Brutal way to lose but also shows that by 90 minutes the players were tired - that's a desperate way to defend and 99 times out of 100 you'll be fine but it was the wrong way to try and block the attack. The close up photos of her show just how gutted she will always feel. I doubt she cares overly that most of the sporting world, a few twitter trolls aside, immediately were 'there for her'. First round of Europa League matches last night. The 2015/16 season has begun. I seem to remember at the end of last season on Baker & Kelly they'd worked out that between now and something like 2019, provided you include rep U19 and women's matches, there wasn't a single day without soccer. Euro 2016 next year. That'll be fifty years of hurt for Baddiel and Skinner to lament.
  12. Fish and chips by Jon Smalldon, on Flickr
  13. Pretty rubbish game that but at least Canadaland won. Germany had a strange 10-0 victory over Cote d'Ivoire yesterday - strange in the sense that it was clear the Ivorians weren't *bad* players as such just hopelessly outgunned and nowhere near as well coached.
  14. Guiseley beat Chorley to gain promotion to the Conference
  15. At least it's not a total walk away, there are plenty of those in non league football. I imagine (hope) the budget will be pared back to one more in keeping with a standard Northern Premier League side which they seemed to be able to be without needing extra unsustainable investment.
  16. Inver Caley Thistle's twitter account was the star of their shock cup semi final win over Celtic. This article has some, but not all, of their excellent work.
  17. The Football Conference has signed a three-year TV deal extension with BT and will now go by the name of National League.
  18. I'm told that Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen team used to do similar to this:
  19. Not really. He said sorry after stamping on someone - but not to the player he stamped on.
  20. That's bizarre!
  21. And City win. Unbelievable, Jeff!
  22. Bizarre it's not on TV but the radio giving the impression that City are all over them and well deserving of the lead.
  23. My point was that it won't impact the Bulls much because there's not much scope for casual City fans to turn up as all tickets will have gone via regulars - and as it's not on the TV there's no excuse for Bulls fans not to jolly over to Leigh.
  24. Why? Because it's a big figure?
