  1. It appears that the Cardiff public were also unaware that the match was happening.
  2. Did you both have the same one? There seem to be about half a dozen variants of St George out there.
  3. Are they a 'sports' club like a fair number of European clubs? There was a Steua RU team when Romania went through the phase of being good enough to occasionally worry Wales in the 80s,
  4. He did indeed - although not at first. And now all the papers are reporting that rather than concentrating on how Newcastle beat a supposedly unbeatable side.
  5. That is apparently what he said. Given that he is mad as a box of frogs I'll treat it with the same seriousness I take the loon on the train howling that the ghosts are chasing him.
  6. That's been on a couple of times now. Genuinely shocking.
  7. The only surprise being that there don't appear to have been any Serbs to join in.
  8. I liked the bit where the Faroe Islands beat Greece. In Greece.
  9. Everyone will feel sorry for Cardiff when they stop laughing at the redbirds.
  10. 99p for Booker long-listed The Wake on the Kindle right now. Started last night. Written in a 'shadow tongue' mix of Old English and modern, tells the story of the last of the resistance fighters to Norman rule. Apparently. It's either going to be brilliant or I shall be punching the screen on the Kindle.
  11. Platini is a very grim administrator. Very much in the Blatter mould. But, in more positive French football news, I went to a match there.
  12. Yes, I picked up that they'd made some (many) changes. It does seem a bit scattergun but the performances are strong and there are many decent laughs.
  13. Anyway, I have found an actual current TV programme although, as is traditional, I am so far behind the curve as to be untrue. Cuckoo, now apparently in its 2nd series, is making me laugh rather a lot.
  14. Some quite ugly reports going round about crowd violence - in particular the expected thugs from Leeds* getting grumpy and attacking spectators in the disabled area, which actually included Leeds fans. (* Yes, yes, I know, not all Leeds United fans are thugs but games like this will bring out the moron element amongst the 'support').
  15. They can but I'd say they were unlikely. And, given that England are unlikely to progress far next year, would get absolutely trounced if they do it make it to Canada. It's a shame for women's football that the FAs in the UK like to put up the barriers. Glasgow City tried to join the FA WSL and a team in Wales would do wonders for them as well.
  16. England women toast Wales (played 8 won 8 against them now) to qualify for the World Cup in Canada. Such a turnaround from Hope Powell's days. Agree with the BBC commentary though - it's very hard for England to know how good they are given they've had such an easy group but they are certainly a much more coherent outfit than in the last European Championships.
  17. I don't see why they should. He was a monstrous ######. That the person he was a ###### to was also a ###### ... well, that's hardly surprising either.
  18. My day is considerably improved when I catch an episode of Parks and Recreation. Other than that it appears that I literally only watch sport channels.
  19. Season ends on 30 May with the FA Cup final.
  20. Huddersfield sack Mark Robins after one game of the season.
  21. The new season begins. Eastbourne United AFC scratch out a 1-0 win over Horsham YMCA to get their Sussex County League First Division campaign off to a winning start. I took some photies and wrote about it here.
  22. The new soccerball season starts today. My dad is taking me to see Banbury United v North Leigh in exciting friendly action.
