  1. Jonathan Davies would say this is a 'very poooeer' choice.
  2. Jodie Broughton (Salford) That is a young lad who with the right coaching could go far. His try last weekend was top notch. He is also very strong near the try line.
  3. If this happens I think it will be a great move. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...ark-switch.html ST HELENS want to play next year's home fixture with Warrington at Goodison Park. They will play most of 2011's home games at Widnes while a new 18,000-seater stadium is built.
  4. Thats what he says here.....basically he came to Wigan knowing the club were a really poor outfit, just for the money. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_leag...gan/4971418.stm "I had a clause in my contract with St George that allowed me to leave before my contract was up," he said. "But only if I was moving to Super League in England. I have always had the ambition to play in England." And the Australian, who has retired from internationals to focus on his club career, said he would still join Wigan even if they were relegated from Super League. The bottom-of-the-table Warriors have won just two of their first 12 games and face a big battle to move up the table. "They're pretty confident they can claw their way back up the ladder but I'll definitely be coming," Barrett told BBC Radio Manchester. "I'll still be playing for the club.
  5. I think it does as it was when he was argueby at the peak of his powers and he went to a club like Wigan for riches not the chance to win trophies.
  6. Thats a positive move, young Enlish player who has potential to be a top player. Manu is the wrong option.
  7. Not really an inspired choice is it. I dont have a problem with assistant NRL coaches but would prefer the up and comers like McGuire at Wigan rather than veterans like Simmons. Makes you wonder what the likes of Ricky Stuart have done not to get a look in for top jobs here?
  8. We need backs not pack players. Manu has played for Tonga also accoring to Wiki, he was in the 2009 cup team for the Pacific Cup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonga_nationa...gby_league_team
  9. New England coach Steve McNamara is set to risk controversy by considering Hull's Tongan second row forward Willie Manu for the Four Nations series. The 30-year-old Manu played for Tonga in the 2008 World Cup but now qualifies for England on residency, having moved to the United Kingdom in 2006 - initially to play for Castleford - and he was brought into McNamara's squad for a get-together in Liverpool this week. McNamara's predecessor Tony Smith created much debate after handing Samoa-born prop Maurie Fa'asavalu a Great Britain debut in 2007. "Willie Manu qualifies to play for England on residency and has made himself available," said an RFL spokesman. http://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/ne...YL_England.html Absolute joke. You would thought that after picking Fasavalu the England team would have learned their lesson. Bad news for the sport. If this happens I wont be watching the England team.
  10. He has won stuff at Test level and Origin series. But plenty great players in the game have never won a trophy (major). Barrett I feel chased money rather than opt to play for clubs who were seriously gonna deliver him medals.
  11. "I feel privileged to have played at three terrific clubs in St George Illawarra, Wigan and Cronulla and to have been coached by some very talented coaches," Barrett said. "Among the highlights of my career was that I got to play with and against many of the genuine superstars of the game. Farrar said Barrett was always destined to reached the highest level in the game, the 32-year-old finishing with ten Origin appearances and 15 Tests to his name. http://www.watoday.com.au/breaking-news-sp...0722-10miz.html He has been a great player and yet has never won anything in a fantastic career. It just goes to show that there are plenty of great players who have never won a major trophy despite being one of the top performers for the last decade.
  12. Saints are still a bogey team, we can beat Leeds as history has shown. Its a mental thing not a talent thing. If Catalans can beat Saints at home anyone can.
  13. Warm up for the big cup semi final. Dont expect Catalans to reveal their hand here, Wires win by 20 pts.
  14. Shame that Wigan could not hang on to him if he was as good as what they made out. Wigan seem to be able to churn out plenty of good forwards but backline talent is limited.
  15. As a fan I am satisfied with 2nd. But I feel we will win at least the cup or maybe the GF if we meet Wigan in the final.
  16. Next year we will have an even stronger Warrington Wolves with Hodgson at fb and all the young guns will have matured more. Therefore its a bit premature to say that Wigan will be in the GF next year when all other teams will get stronger next season.
  17. Who will get released from Wigan I reckon Fat Feka, Mr Average Carmont and Fatty Riddell.
  18. It applies for all clubs including Wire. What happens when Monaghan retires and King. Do we promote youth or fill up our quota? Its crazy.
  19. Leeds have got some good young forwards that they should give a go. Makes me sigh when we see clubs lose an overseas player they automatically get another in.
  20. Wellens is the biggest culprit I think, cant stand they way he waves his arms everytime a try is scored against his beloved Saints!
  21. GREG EASTWOOD has hit top form for Leeds in recent weeks but it seems he still wants out at the end of the season to return to Australia. The Kiwi international forward and World Cup winner is in the first year of a three-year contract at Headingley He arrived from Canterbury Bulldogs, who have missed his aggression this season and are ready to take him back. By all accounts, homesick Eastwood is ready to go, with the Bulldogs willing to swap out-of-contract skipper Andrew Ryan. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/rugby/view/1436...-for-Australia/ This would be a strange swap, a realtively young forward like Eastwood for a veteran like Ryan!!???
  22. Widnes v Warrington used to be the most deadly rivalry in the sport. It may not have had the crowds of the plazzi scousers v pie eaters derby but for sheer brutality, violence, rivalry and hatred on and off the pitch it was number 1. Wait till Widnes get back into SL next time!
  23. "Not every player will be like Kris Radlinski or Sean O'Loughlin or Paul Deacon, who had nice upbringings and were always sensible lads," he says in a telling passage. "There are also plenty of players who are on the same wavelength as me. "Rugby league is a rough game and of course it attracts people from rough backgrounds, but it shouldn't be ashamed of that
  24. Yeah heard Pelo was on his way. Greensheilds will be the main man they need to keep, when he doesnt play they look less effective.
