  1. One or two posters here seem to be turning this into a debate about some kind of racist, bigoted, ignoramus! This is about finding the right formula for selecting a national sports team while maintaining a level of integrity that protects the honour of doing so. I suggest those who wish to throw around labels like ‘racist’ have no justification for doing so and should take their agenda somewhere else.
  2. With regard to Shaun Wayne’s comments about Victor Radley, he is a superb player who qualifies directly for two National teams, he has made his choice, good luck to him! His choice should now be permanent with no option to change to another nation if he can’t make the Australian team. The ability to swap from one nation to another is ridiculous and makes a mockery of international competition. As far as I’m concerned it’s our best against the best of other nations which includes everyone from the Manager to the bloke who rolls the socks into pairs with a stick of Wriggleys chewing gum. If we prove to be not good enough then we know we need to improve and if we win the next World Cup then it’s a complete victory for the nation and not diluted or shared with another nation who provided elements of our team for us. Simple with credibility, not contrived & shallow!
  3. IMO, qualification should be pretty strict, I’d drop the Grandparent qualification and strictly adhere to one of the following Born in the Country in question / Parent(s) / Passport Holder.
  4. I think we all know what Wayne means and it’s not some far right, EDL, Nationalism driven agenda is it! He doesn’t want plastic Englishmen who only choose to be English because they can’t get into the Australian team. Bennett went crazy as soon as he got the England job and tried to get the Morris twins, Ben Hannant, Trent Hodkinson, Chris Heighington, Chris McQueen etc to play for England. Throw in the stupidity of Rangi Chase’s selection under Steve McNamara and you can understand where Wayne is coming from. Suggesting that he doesn’t view Oledski as English by emphasising the phrase ‘Pure bred Englismen’ is just agenda driven gaslighting by the OP.
  5. My thoughts would be to scrap the grandparent(s) & residency rules and stick strictly to where you were born or parent(s) qualification. Victor Radley is a superb player and has made his choice, good luck to him! Ive also stated my opinion on national teams a few times in the past. As far as I’m concerned it’s our best against the best of of nations and that includes everyone from the Manager to the bloke who rolls the socks into pairs with a stick of Wriggleys chewing gum. If we prove to be not good enough then we know we need to improve and if we win the next World Cup then it’s a complete victory for the nation and not diluted or shared with another nation who provided elements of our team for us. Simple with credibility, not contrived & shallow!
  6. The coverage has obviously been well thought out, not only have they included recorded crowd noise but the camera crew and directors have avoided shots of empty seats. The results mitigate the impact of there being no spectators in the stadium, well done I say
  7. Two high profile players who seemed to quietly slip away from the game after stellar careers were Simon Manwaring and Jason Nightingale. Both high profile NRL and New Zealand internationals who's names just vanished from the news and team selections.
  8. Not quite so straightforward as that is it! Leeds, because they’re a bigger club in terms of profile & are seen as a glamour club, attract players from other areas. Leeds often get the first pick of the best talent from Wakefield, Cas, Featherstone, Oldham, Halifax & indeed Huddersfield. Those players are the ones identified as having the best chance of making it all the way through to the pinnacle of the game. It could be argued that Leeds should do better at producing players than they do. Huddersfield Giants Academy under Andy Kelly has been hugely improved over the last 5 or 6 years and is now rated as ‘Outstanding’ alongside Leeds, Wigan, St Helens & Hull JA.
  9. Best wishes to Rod and his family Get well soon fella & let’s hope it’s a full recovery
  10. 100% Correct! He was often criticised for the things he did but if he were doing those self same things now he’d be an international. Absolutely great bloke as well!
  11. Tony Myler is one of the most respected and highly regarded players of the last 50 years, certainly doesn’t belong in this team. Probably the best Stand Off to come out of the U.K. ever, injuries possibly robbed us and him of his absolute best form but he showed enough to be up there with Lewis, Kenny etc
  12. For Owen Farrell See Mark Sneed !! He’d be an average League player now, maybe at 15 he would have had more League potential but his instincts are all wrong now for League. Hes a world class Union player and should remain there!
  13. John Feeley at the Bulls? Had amazing pace, footwork and good skills with the ball
  14. Watching Adam Bolton interviewing Matt Hancock at the opening of London’s Nightingale Hospital. In the background there have been dozens of so called dignitaries and journalists, intelligent people, all walking around in close groups!
  15. Steve O’Neil & Mike O’Neil at Widnes Thorman brothers at Newcastle Andy Kelly, Neil Kelly & Richard Kelly at Wakefield Fairbanks brothers at Halifax Leon Pryce & Karl Pryce at Bradford Bob & Kevin Beardmore at Castleford
  16. Ryan Hall might as well come home and Watkins looks to be done as a top tier player.
  17. Correct been a left winger for Leeds but both sides at international level incorrect, the ref was Sutton and his brother was the video ref. Biggest stitch up at international level I’ve ever seen!
  18. I’m not downplaying anyone but I don’t see why you want to pretend something happened when it didn’t, are you David Jones or maybe his mum? Offiahs run was impeded by defenders while Jones had a clear line to chase back, simple as that. Jones was a decent wing for Trinity and had he ever learned to run at gaps instead of defenders his record would be much better.
  19. I was at that game and Jones caught him because he had the chance to reach his top speed while Offiah was evading other defenders. Dave Jones wasn’t even near Offiah for raw speed and certainly not nearly as good a RL player
  20. He’s got destroyed by raw pace on two occasions today by Mason Caton-Brown who was also carrying the ball! Id have to say MCB is the fastest I’ve seen in recent years and that’s even in comparison with a fully fit Tom Johnstone who’d be my second choice
  21. I say again, in answer to the above posts, other than ‘he said she said’ where’s the proof of any wrong doing by Walker? How do you know that he was acting against the interests of the club he has supported, helped and rescued for decades. Im not doubting the Trust members but do they even KNOW what Walker was trying to achieve. It’s alright saying he wasn’t being open with them but do they know that his methods weren’t honourable or that his actions wouldn’t ultimately have been fruitful. He’s the one with the experience in theses matters, he’s the one who understands the politics that drive things like this. Like I said, I’m not pro or anti anyone, least of all the trust members, but I’m not going to slavishly believe hearsay without proof.
