I’m not sure about the bad reads, he had to follow his centre Gagai in a couple of times as that’s the system they play. He missed 1 tackle when rushing up to cut out a play where Penrith had a 3 v 1 and they went on to score a try but it was Trish or bust either way.
-
Dom Young had what appeared to be a mixed game this morning, taking his try very well but there were a number of try’s scored down Newcastles right edge. I say “appeared” because the Knights had a man sent off early and it allowed Penrith to work the extra man down Newcastles edges making the centre & wing partnerships look exposed. Newcastle are no easy beats this year, despite being a man down they still score 3 try’s against Penrith.

Farnworth had a superb game on both sides of the ball, 2 try’s and some great defensive reads Very similar from Dom Young, he took his try very well but also made some great defensive reads 2 of which were potential try savers.

Also Jake Connor & Darnell McIntosh! L Senior I Senior Wardle Young McIntosh Price Connor English Leeming Mason Hewitt Trout Kirby Russell Andy Kelly has certainly done an amazing job in creating one of the best Youth Academies and pathways in the game.

Dom Young was good this morning vs Sydney Roosters and up against Daniel Toupou who’s an established international and top class NRL winger. I think that’s played 7 and scored 5 which even for a winger is a superb strike rate just a point of contention, he’s not from Uddersfield he’s from Wakefield but came through the Giants Youth system

First of all, IMO he should never have been picked for England. Same with Heighington, Chase, McQueen, Austin etc... Specifically regards Hastings, we do not need to select him as we have options in the half’s for a change. Having spent years being dismantled by a man called Lewis (Wally) the Penny has finally dropped we now have our own Lewis’s (Dodd & Mikey) to unleash on the likes of Australia, NZ & Tonga. They are backed up by others like Price, Williams & Widdop so I would hope that we don’t sideline these blokes with plastic Englishmen.

Neil did a fantastic job at Dewsbury, they looked all but down and relegated when he took over and he had an immediate impact taking them to mid table. He improved them again in his second year and things looked to be heading in the right direction until a personal tragedy brought his time at the club to an end. Happy to see him back in the game, his knowledge of Championship Rugby and his time in Union will make his credentials tough to match. -
Farnworth now has 2 back to back seasons where he’s made some well informed judges sit up and take notice. On current standing and with another season in the NRL under his belt, he will have a very strong case for a Centre spot in the England World Cup squad.

We’ve got one for sure but I think the Australians have disbanded theirs

Tom Burgess has really kicked on in the absence of his brothers. He’s now playing at a level that I believe is above that of which George was playing when he was at his best. In Walmsley and Tom Burgess we have two of the best Prop forwards in the world complimented further by Thompson and quite possibly joined by Matty Lees or Mikalai Oledski. Thats not a bad front row rotation for an international team!

I’m amazed that anyone who’s ever seen the originals could honestly rate The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker! IMO, if Ryan Johnson had grown up despising Star Wars, had been bullied by Star Wars fans and his mum left his dad for Mark Hamill. He could conceivably have developed a seething hatred of all things Star Wars and hatched a plan to ruin it for everyone. If that were the case he couldn’t have done a better hatchet job on the whole Star Wars culture than make The Last Jedi! Ill give JJ Abraham a bit of a pass as Johnston pretty much left him a pile of complete tish & nowhere to go in his attempts to salvage something in the final film. There’s a pretty strong lobby from thousands of fans trying to get the 3 sequels made non canon so that someone at some point in the future can finish the saga in a more fitting manner. -

Just rewatched the Lord of the Rings trilogy on a 75 inch screen with superb surround sound. Id almost forgotten just how absolutely fantastic these three films are in every respect. The score by Howard Shore is epic, the casting superb, the special effects just right and Peter Jackson had his Sistine Chapel moment -

I enjoyed it, Pitt and DiCaprio made for an unlikely double act but it worked well. Trivia: In Kill Bill 2 the the little girl who plays the Brides Daughter at the end is also the hitchhiker girl in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood -
He was what, 16 maybe just turned 17 years old the day he played against Sts, he’s still only 19 years old now! He stands 6’6” and as a youngster he hadn’t then and still hasn’t yet grown into his frame, very much like the Senior twins at 6’5”. Young athletes at that height and build won’t gain the full core strength until much later than smaller athletes. Staying with Young, playing against The Cowboys this morning he scored two good try’s, laid another one on a plate with a superb backhand flick offload, laid the last pass on for Kalyn Pongas try & ran for around 180mtrs Not bad for a 19 year old trying his hand in the NRL

Far worth’s certainly worthy of a place in the squad, he’d possibly force his way into the starting line up on the Left Wing or at a push in the Left Centre. Equally I’d start considering Welsby as a bolster for the England squad as he offers just as much size & versatility as Farnworth. Tomkins Makinson Percival King Johnstone is a decent backline with size & pace but you could drop in Farnworth or Welsby in any position and we’d still be strong
-
Apparently Reece Lynne is the answer
-
On the Wane - Farnworth situation, I think Herbie has intimated to Wane that he’s not sure he wants to nail his colours to the England mast. He’s moved his life to Australia, maybe he doesn’t see himself ever returning to the U.K. and perhaps feels the need to become an Australian through and through. If he’s suggested to Wane that he’s unsure then that would fit Wanes wording as he explained Farnworths removal from the England squad.

In some teams virtually nothing but others still run with a more traditional stand off who falls somewhere between a centre, a second Row and a scrum half. I’ll grant you that some coaches like run with two half backs who fit the scrum half description and control either the left or right sided attack but not really Canberra. Wighton is more of a traditional 6 as is Moses although less so
-
That’s a very simplistic view, is Jack Wighton “simply not good enough” too because, as a half, Moses is more a six than a seven. Maybe it’s more to do with Canberra’s pack not being dominant leaving the half struggling to find the room and time to play. Maybe it’s due to missing a few of the regular backline players including Charnze Nicole-Klokstad whose become vital to the Raiders attacking play. maybe it’s a bit of all of the above? All that said, I don’t think Williams is playing that bad at all, yes he can be better but his performances aren’t in isolation
-
Very good post and echoes my sentiments and exactly The threat of a red card for decking an opponent has allowed the modern game to have pseudo hard men populating it. The likes of Adam Milner, Ryan Bailey and co wouldn’t have lasted half a season in the days of Jim Mills, Paul Rose, Len Casey and Mike Nicholas.
-
George Williams has been very poor in the game Vs Penrith this morning. Anonymous for the most part but he made some sloppy errors throughout the game. He did handle twice for Whitens try but threw a couple of forward passes, went behind his runner twice and threw a lazy intercept pass for Cleary’s try. Whitehead was solid and threw a peach of a pass for Crokers try while Hodgson was busy achieving very little despite looking busy. Best of the Brits was Sutton again, ran hard and often poking his shoulders through the tackle on a few occasions. He tackled everything that came his way and was dominant in almost all of his collisions.
-
Dom Young pretty much Knights best in an easily beaten team missing a lot of regulars. Defended well, looked aggressive, showed some great instincts with feet and hands. Set up a try and made the break for his own try right at the end. good showing from him

Wakefield Trinity plans submision
OMEGA replied to Forever Trinity's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
A few years ago Belle Vue was illegally oversized and was shortened a few metres. Up to then it was the widest and longest Professional Rugby League pitch & when maintained properly its the best as well. I was having a friendly pop at Cas -
Wakefield Trinity plans submision
OMEGA replied to Forever Trinity's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
When the East Stand is completed, if it’s as the proposed plans now with WMDCs Planning Dept, then Belle Vue will be far far better than Wheldon Rd. There will be properly tarmacked on site car parking purpose built bars and food outlets Multiple, brand new, well kept toilet/baby change facilities New ticketing office & outlet huge pre match hospitality areas brand new seating with excellent unobstructed views brand new changing rooms and player/officials facilities up to date physio & Medical rooms Players gymnasium & indoor warm up areas The new North terracing will be completely brand new and will have the most up to date crush bars. There will be new up to date computerised turnstiles on both the East & West sides of the ground. The South side Hospitality boxes will still provide Executive longes, Hospitality boxes, supporters bars, food outlets, toilet facilities and some of the best views of a match anywhere in the game. The Cats Bar will also be revamped to provide a huge retailing area, more toilets, more bars and family areas. To top it off the pitch will be new and crucially ‘full sized’
