  1. I was just trying to consider if all games being on TV was a factor given that on Thursdays we normally see lower numbers for SL televised games - although that could be because its a week day. Personally I still think its a pricing and stadium choice issue especially as lot of games in a limited geographical area.
  2. It's great we have the games on BBC, I enjoyed watching the game tonight cosy at home at no extra cost... Saved me making any effort to go through ticketing and travel. I would have gone to the stadium otherwise... It is a catch 22... No matter the price I would still have watched from home. Unless it was england. Of course I see benefits of BBC showing the games, but not sure about every single one.
  3. Not disagreeing I was and am just trying to understand decisions for what to me are high prices especially if taking a family to a number of games or at the other end of the price spectrum hospitality. Whilst the later games and especially the final can be viewed a premium sporting event the earlier rounds are far from premium sporting activities.
  4. They know their customer better than most hence their choice of ticket price to meet that consumer market. It would suggest RLWC didn't really understand their consumer market or thought they could bring in a different consumer market.
  5. Yep, maybe but it was more often with a number of tacklers and at least one not attempting to move... Plus whilst your accurate in why you would attempt a faster PTB in the case of Tonga they weren't particularly fast PTB attempts but just ponderously moving aside.
  6. A sort of... I'll take my ball away then... whilst they put their collective thumb to the nose and wave the fingers and make a nah nah type noise
  7. I find the ruck infringements stat interesting. At many PTB Tonga player was always having to step to one side or back to have space to PTB. Surely because a Welsh player was lying in the way - I would suggest it was a tactic they got away with and should have been penalised far more.
  8. I guess so but I would thought if they believed it may drive future subscriptions to watch a sport they show almost exclusively over other channels it would be in their interests to advertise aspects. I guess they know it don't drive subscriptions as only Premier league does.
  9. Could be, hope your right about the later rounds. Certainly for us here the cost of going to multiple games is a factor - especially thinking about heating bill. Although that sounds daft now i have written it as going may be cheaper than heating the house. Chuckle.... maybe a new promotional line...save yer heating
  10. Still buzzing on the no try... even it just touched the line the acrobatics of the player trying too keep it in was exceptional...
  11. Isn't the normal rl pace a late buyer scenario... so surely that would have been considered.
  12. Yep I thought too expensive... mind you they were mega expensive at 2013 wc... so maybe not a high bar to beat if cost put many off. Plus at two games at Headingley their were very low numbers at one game. The other game they closed their biggest rooms. Must have sold well at the england games I would guess if Dutton is accurate.
  13. Money should be made on the corporate and hospitality. Enables lower prices elsewhere or adjustments can be more easily made I think you will find commercial /hospitality sales are poor - overpriced or lack of sales from my experience.
  14. At the risk of having you shout yerself hoarse at yer PC or phone I like Wilkins. Not afraid to say as he sees it and most of the time I agree...
  15. Gosh funny how we see things I thought Wales were almomst always slowing ptb whether through lying on or piddling as if being held in... Plus they seemed to get away with a few forward passes as they tired... Having said that wales deserve praise. Although they hardly got out their half 2nd half and score reflected the game.
  16. The problem for Bentley is he reacts to any provocation, thus he has a reputation and gets targeted with silly stuff and because he can not tame himself he reacts eventually. He ain't alone in that, e.g. Sam Tomkins can be a problem with England as he reacts too much, which can cause whole team to lose focus. He has demonstrated his ill discipline a number of times in both WC games to-date. You have to be tough to play professional rugby but the toughest can just ignore and get on with it without impacting. Best reaction is to win the game and smile afterwards when yer shake hands.
  17. Good to hear about the promotion stuff. Although I don't always notice what being shown in the towns or cities. I guess down to promotional experts knowing what works and what the travel/people movement is for eye-balls. I still wonder if selling is an aspect and how hard it has been sold. I agree with your implication that revenue sharing or pop's up would not be sufficient.
  18. you make some good points for debate. With regard to street Buzz, to be honest their wasn't anything around my area regarding the women's euro's until the later games of England. Just the same with regard to RLWC and we are 15 mile from Leeds. Given it is/was meant to focus on the Norther Powerhouse I think reliance on the BBC spreading the word further and wider and hence key to creating some sort of buzz wider was a key component of the strategy. I have no problem with the Northern Powerhouse approach but that should have translated to pricing, chose of stadium and shoe leather as well as glossier promotional activities. I am not sure that the organisers got that right. To add - I have no idea what wc organiser promotional efforts have been. What I wonder is how much selling to business has gone on, how many visits to community and league clubs has their been, how many schools and colleges/universities visited, how many workplaces visited, local radio, newspapers, magazines etc... that is selling gone on as well as wider promotional efforts. We ain't soccer which sells itself, we are currently more a niche sport that needs to get out their and sell ourselves.
  19. Hard to argue with what you say... except to comment that sometimes the tactics chosen and approach or attitude on the pitch can be a bigger influence. I can only assume the tactics/approach was the game plan and in essence maybe a better coach would have got more from the team in this particular game. Having said that whomever the leaders on field where they should have recognised the need to change unless its just part of some of the players DNA (in addition to Bentley). The discipline was very poor and they were lucky to have a lenient ref.
  20. I was surprised the ref was so lenient. Let too many head shots go... bryne could have been off a number of times. I feel as though they went out to disrupt Lebanon by roughing them up. I ended up pleased with them being stuffed.
  21. Don't need chanting for it to be a good atmosphere. Before a game starts you can feel a electric atmosphere. The play on the park creates the atmosphere and excitement...aka dom young runs. The crowd noise increase at key moments or cheering each tackle...etc etc
  22. Didn't think they did too badly. It was ill discipline that did for England. Tomkins reacts too easy and that can set the tone of losing focus. Thought Hall looked fine, Oleski just needs more game time to combine with the team now I assume he isn't carrying his injury anymore. At the moment others are ahead.
  23. Well England far the better team. Reading some comments seems we were lucky having a bias ref favouring England. We do look to nit pick and ignore any harsh decisions and iffy passers against us. YEP England not perfect but do give confidence they can challenge any team. WANE would know his preferred 17 now.
