  1. 1 Who wound Gledders up today? He was running like a man 10 years younger, massive in defence and from the distance and view from the South Stand just appeared from nowhere to score. 2 Captain Fantastic...Browny! He found pace today and took every drive and tackle. 3 Manning, Buchanan, Kear, Kibula (He clearly took his loan out message to heart)....eventually choosing Buchanan, chased from tackle to tackle, popped up all over and turned added that great break.
  2. I thought we were rubbish.....oh sorry, wrong game!!
  3. Are we aware that at 4 o'clock TODAY there is a football match on the pitch? Today's (and for that matter tomorrow's) weather for the North Yorkshire area is regular heavy rain, which bright sparks didn't get together to discuss the scheduling of a football FRIENDLY and an important RL cup semi-final within 18 hours of each other on the same pitch, not to mention the groundwork needed to convert the pitch and obliterate markings?
  4. I hope it's a day where we have to rank every one of the 17 as MOM!
  5. Hooley apparently available, after the Halifax win and no disgrace in Toulouse I can't say anybody should lose a place but at an outside shot Aiden would replace JC and Kear misses out. We'll be as tight as ever, York will have to be out of their skins to beat us.
  6. Bulldogs fan here; sincerely wishing your club all the best in it's current trials and tribulations. Since the game lost its Bramleys, Huytons/Runcorn, Blackpools' etc we had hoped that the game was going to go on, flourish and expand and take its place as a celebrated national sport. Instead, the expansion, little as that is, has caused massive difficulties for clubs not of the elite, heaven knows we've been on the receiving end over the years ourselves. You clearly have troubles ahead, indeed are in those troubles now but I hope I'm right in saying that no sensible fan of the game would want Whitehaven to be no more. I hope your local community and businesses rally round and pull you through.
  7. Just seen the highlights, I agree with Josh Hodson about that try in the corner! Couple of others went in when 9 times out of 10 we'd have covered the tackle. Not as bad a result as it looks, York won't throw it at us like that. Gary Schofield in League Express gives us a good write up and backs us, is that good or bad?

    JC

Today 17th July is JC's 36th birthday, enjoy Jonny!!
  9. Was just going to post exactly that Rog! However I think we'll shake yesterday off, one bad half won't change much. Would or did York fare any better in France?
  10. Hooley not in Leeds squad for Friday.... It's probably inviting criticism but I don't see us pulling of the double but the usual decent performance will see us not disgraced. 36-20.
  11. Also, in these days of it always being the ref's fault (and I don't mind saying that I think Liam Rush ISN'T always on our side) but today I think he was on the spot for almost everything. 2 errors, the knock-on decision against Hodson going uphill and the high shot on Woods on his kick, but everything is a matter of what you see in a split second.
  12. Where to start? Like Hooley said at the end of Radio Leeds, it's an 'everybody' game. Those who get the plaudits aren't always the main contributors, platforms have to be laid, hard yards made, big knocks taken, I'm picking on those provisos; Browny, absolutely on fire, lead by example today. Kibula, everything that went wrong for him last week was put right today. The guy made his yards, made his tackles, sprayed passes around like a half-back and shot through that gap like a centre, shame they nabbed him just short. Can't choose now between Manu and Gledhill so sharing 3rd.
  13. The best 2 words to use are commanding and awesome. Chatting with some Fax fans in the row before me discussing possible outcomes, I suggested a sneaky win either way, they were fully confident of not winning! From the first drive by Browny from the kick-off you could feel the energy and effort oozing and the manner in which they commanded the field for the full 80 minutes was testament not only to players and coaches but to our conditioner and the way in which he alone took the circle on the field at the end of warm-up and delivered his expectations. I and others have wondered about the resilience of these tired bodies (Linners' words, not mine) but with a performance like that it could just be that they've got over the hump. Awesome performances from all 17 on that field, nobody gave anything less that what they had. Watch out Olympique XIII.
  14. Too tight to call I reckon today, settle for a point apiece it'll be that close.
  15. Toulouse lost in London, anything for us tomorrow puts us 2nd.
  16. Redditch, my money is where my mouth is, just in case you were aiming!! PM, keep involved every, it's a forum for opinions not necessarily all the same. Strange how, after being told so often that I'm having a go at the club/coach, the first time I actually agree with him. I'm still in bother!
  17. Are we looking at another GF shot or Wembley? That's thus season. Linners is quick to say how much if a better coach Mokko is so can anybody see Linners bringing in a man without discussing it with him? If we have to persist with injured, broken bodies (not my words!!) then we might not achieve either of the above.
  18. For a start I don't have any choice in disregarding any posts, I can only keep any eye on language, personal attacks (I could have taken exception to a few!) etc. Now, if the coach, in whom we've had full confidence for 2 and a half seasons, starts to hint at certain things, do we dismiss him as a crank or a moaner? Why, in agreeing with him and supporting his comments am I? It should be as plain as the noses on collective faces that the squad is turning out under trying circumstances, bringing knocks to every game and the coach wants to bring in a few faces to hand out a few rest passes and for reasons unknown or unexplained he can't, why am I at fault in asking?
  19. After the radio interview after the London, Craig's gone in The Reporter as saying he's not sure as to why he can't have any new bodies. If HE'S not sure then it's over to someone to explain....
  20. Without a massive lift in form, I know we'll say what a journey upto Barrow, difficult circumstances etc etc, good opposition, but we were far from cohesive yesterday, lacked variation, fouled up on the easy parts of the game, I'm sure the coaches took nothing away from it except the 2 points. Massive, quick overhaul needed or Halifax, coming of the vaccine of their loss, will be in no mood to lose again.
  21. Ben White 2 positions again, led us inward. Manning always at the front of both tackling and driving in Meadows probed all the time but needs to know when to go alone and when to let go. You'll think that a daft thing to say when he's scored 1 and set up the other, but he often disappears up his own.
  22. Samy gave as good, or bad performance as most today. He had some wild passes thrown at him which went down but also a simple one as well. He tackled well I thought but just like a few others missed one or two. Think he should have been used as interchange though and Keegan as the starter. Nobody was overly inspiring even Hooley dropped 1 kick. I'm going to have my usual chirrup about dropgoals; at 6-6 for a long time and most of the game being played between the 20's, the time we did have at their end we never got lined up for one. We kept playing out left and Woods and Meadows were always out there. Barrow got in position for 2 shots, 1 which they got off. Scores level, all hell and no notion, take the 1, get the ball back and press again. AND again we got caught out and conceded a try from a kick off we didn't have in the script.
  23. Due to 'referral to tribunal' is Sammut available or not?
