  1. Oldham had a few moments but I think overall we caused them more problems than they did us. Bet side lost for me.
  2. 1. Aekins - Possibly his best game for the club for me 2. Wynne - Looked a real danger whenever he touched the ball. 3. Springer - Back to his unstoppable best in that 2nd half
  3. A vast improvement today. The returning players made a massive difference of course. I thought that quite a few had their best games for a long time. An odd game in some respects in that London did (a bit worryingly) make several clear breaks particularly in the first half. Nevertheless imo the scoreline didn't flatter us one bit. With more successful conversions and with some of Wynne's disallowed efforts reversed it could have easily been 50. Serious question but did Wilde actually touch the ball ? Did he go off injured ?
  4. 1. Day 2. Beckett 3. Gorman (I'm critical of DR and I'm not sure he's up to scratch at this level but you can't fault his effort which stands out in this years bunch) Always interesting to see other's MOM votes and whilst we might look for different things - how on earth has Vuniyawa received several votes for his usual ineffective 15 minute stint. Am I looking at someone else ??
  5. I'm sure there must have been but I'm struggling to think of one at the minute. I'm reminded of the Major on Fawlty Towers. Noooo... There was that hotel at Eastbourne......
  6. Shameful indeed. I had a look at a random sample of websites the other day. None were worse than ours. Cornwall's is fantastic.
  7. For me the Dews lads have done well. Beckett is our best middle. O'Connor a mystery to some of us why he doesn't start - especially when he's losing out to DR. Turner maybe unfairly been a scapegoat given that he was really a 4th choice HB. I think he's done ok though. As for the rest imo its been the worst season for recruitment I can recall. Its been a worrying trend in recent seasons in that we sign anyone that becomes available but this year takes the biscuit
  8. Agree with all this. Apart from whether I go next week. I'll decide when I see who Cooke selects. Some players not fit to wear the shirt this season - especially today. I'm fed up of hearing on this forum about how we are losing games because we have some middles out and we have a slightly smaller pack. We've been turned over before in recent times all too often when a more mobile pack wanted it more (e.g. London '23) Today was more about no heart and effort from us and maybe the most important thing - one or two completely useless wastes of space we've signed that are maybe just dragging the team down in terms of attitude and being paid too much. As has also been suggested I don't look at the return of the injured players as being the end of the problems. Something else seems to be very wrong.
  9. Anyone know if there were any known injuries from yesterday ? I think it was O' Connor that pulled up as he passed the ball to Wynne for his long range try ?
  10. Serious point but how do you get to find out about the generally known stuff. The only thing I recall seeing about Reynolds (on this forum I think) was that he'd done his hamstring. All very frustrating given the lack of official news - especially when a hamstring is more likely to be weeks / months with an ankle anything up to season ending ?
  11. For me Wynne is our number 1 winger at the moment. (He's got a lot better in the last few weeks though). For whatever reason I don't think Gaz has been at his best for a long time. He seems to have lost confidence in his ability to run straight over the top of his opposite number. Nevertheless I would still have Olpherts as 3rd choice. On Sundays showing alone I would have dropped him - In terms of errors, brainless play and poor attitude he was horrendous. It will be interesting to see how Cooke sees it. I wonder if Carlos in the halves is still an option - or was that just something suggested on here ? Might be worth trying something different and, as has been said above, I would like to see Tom O'Connor and Arnold get a game. Hopefully Boothroyd and / or Springer are in contention ?? We need to shake things up wherever we can based on Sunday's showing.
  12. 1. Beckett - It makes me wonder if the lad looks at 'King' and Akauola and thinks how the hell do they get away with only doing a couple of 12 minute spells in games (and probably getting paid twice as much) 2. Hardcastle - Never has a bad game. 3. Turner - From other comments I doubt this is a popular vote but I think he did ok - again. With another half back on the pitch today we'd have won imo.
  13. I don't get the negativity. We look to have moved quickly on this and secured a quality half back who is arguably way better than the 2 we have lost - put together. I mean yesterday did we think we'd have a new half back for the Sheffield game ? - I certainly didn't. So how many games will he miss ? Assuming the above comments are true - Ryan may be fit in 4-6 weeks (lets say 5). He'll miss Catalans (do we care ?) and another week which is blank on my fixture list (1895 cup ??) so may only miss 2 league games after Sheff ? Plus given that we've lost Reynolds for an unknown period of time it wouldn't surprise me if the club are looking for someone else on a short term basis at least.
  14. Is Paddy Handley Irish ? or is that like the Pope pooing in the woods thing ?
  15. Maybe in terms of a lack of creativity it is understandable to some degree but Lacans looked sharp in pre-season and I'd been impressed with Turner. Plus London tried to hand us the win and we threw it away. Would Reynolds / Herring have been able to change that ? We should have had the quality to win this game. But yet again we've been (can't believe I'm using this term already) out-enthused. Looking at the results overall since Ford took over - the shock Fev defeats v Surprise Fev wins ratio is dire. Plus given the dull way we play the results almost need to be better than expected to bring the fans back. We have no ideas / last tackle options & poor execution too often imo. As for a new coach as I've said before - anyone will do.
  16. 1. Reynolds 2. Webb 3. Hatton
  17. Well I know the old warm balls in the bag thing has been a joke for years and those of us that question it are seen as idiots but I'd turn that argument on its head and say... how many times do we have to get the same draw before we suspect that something is not quite right. Forgetting Fev though - I'm a statto and also believe that luck evens itself out and as I've said before its virtually implausible that year after year clubs below SL progress no further than the last 16 as they are kept apart in the draw.
  18. No argument. For many reasons it is the worst draw by a mile (well nearly 1000 miles)
  19. All 5 clubs below SL kept apart and only 1 of the 5 getting a home draw. Just saying. No conspiracy theory here though
