  1. Great win by Saddleworth 30 - 19. Saw a first in sport. The players came out for the second half and Edinburgh kicked off, then about 3 minutes later the referee came out of the toilets to start the game - it was three tackles old.
  2. Best of luck and have a great night win or lose.
  3. Can't disagree with you but any game must benefit the side i.e. match fitness and putting plans into practice. Who knows they might even loan us a decent scrum half for the season.
  4. Does anyone know if the club is looking for a scrum-half?
  5. I'm just wondering if this forum is finished since there appears to be very little interest in what is going on.
  6. Last two games against the Hairnets - one player gets suspended for eight matches another for four matches and a player's career might be over to a tackle on report - all from Oldham!
  7. 18 - 14 to Oldham. Hope the lad injured is OK.
  8. THE game is almost here and nothing has been said from both sides of the frontier! If the Lads play half as good as they did on Sunday they'll score 50.
  9. Watching yesterday's game I feel the Lads did themselves proud. For large parts of the game they were far better than Widnes, some of the line defence was awesome. It's a shame they conceded a couple of soft tries, I put it down to changes made and players not being where they should be. Like a few posters have said Laughton was unstoppable, I think he scored four tries. I can't understand why he is still at this level because he did the same the last time we played against them. Electicsheet said "good refereeing" I've got to disagree. They were very professional about slowing down the ruck and he penalised us at least six times giving them another six for doing the same thing - from which they scored a couple of tries. The sin binning at the end was a joke. Score out of ten 4. Bring on the Hairnets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
  10. Listening to Oldham Community Radio this morning Gerald Brierley said The Yeds had a friendly yesterday with Batley behind closed doors. He said all of the players had a good run out and I'm sure he said the Lads won! So whose afraid of Widnes!!!
  11. I'll start the new year off. All the best for 2023 to all posters and readers, including all Hornets fans. Has anyone got any further news about any signings?
  12. Chatting to an old rugby friend of mine we were obviously reminiscing about the good old days, and he mentioned the collection to buy Barry Kear from Castleford. At halftime six supporters carried an open sheet onto which other supporters threw their money. Could be wrong but from what I can remember he cost £6000 and the club sold him later for £9000! I still have the shares bought to support the club - to no avail it still went to the wall. I often think what Quinn is doing on his multi million pound stud farm in Ireland. The other half of B&Q, Oldham Rugby destroyers, still shows his face around the town.
  13. Great Christmas present. Every Fiji I've seen over the years, thinking about Rochdale, they've always been something special. Well done to the club - things are looking really positive.
  14. Whose faults that? The RL have done very little to promote our great game and have let yawnion take full advantage of the RL's head in the sand approach. I feel the game, even at sooperdooper league level is on life support. I say this after reading that all but Wakefield made a profit last season with the rest losing millions again. Let's get back to the amateur days and winter rugby.
  15. Anything is better than nowt. But we need experienced, nasty props not youngsters learning their trade. We fell into that trap last season, and I couldn't cope after 62 years with yet another one.
  16. That's good news - anything on the forward situation?
  17. Hopefully, BSJ, you mean joining the yawnian code and not buying one!
  18. But will it happen? Nothing seems to be coming from the club. Without at least two more props we will be in no man's land with the reorganisation of the game. Got to remember we are two forwards down already with Whittel and Cameron out suspended, and Hamilton is, I heard, out for the season due to an injury sustained in training. So, we are down to 22 players. Not good.
  19. Since dual registration is the way of the world in our division, who are we dualled with?
  20. Ward has resigned for Batley and Moi Moi has disappeared!
  21. What's all this got to do with squad building???????????? We need some props ASAP.
