  1. Either that or the cheaper option I fancy. Not ideal I don't think.
  2. And now it seems Harrogate will ground share with Doncaster. Have to say I don't quite undertand that when York's Keepmoat stadium is so near. I presume it must be a money question.
  3. I read later today that Harrogate are in the process of removing the plastic pitch and laying a grass surface for the coming season. There is much excitement in Harrogate it seems.
  4. Good to read GJ, thanks.
  5. Yes, I can well understand that, I am aware new owners took over Harrogate about 15 years ago. I really have not followed much since.
  6. They have been around a good while, Always entered the FA Cup, I can remember watching them in Harrogate in the 1980's play Blyth Spartans. I suspect they will be well supported in Yorkshire. Very pleasing to me.
  7. Yes, you wouldn't have known it would you? P*ss poor publicity by someone. Supposed to be the 'crown jewels of sport' as well!
  8. Yes, I watched that, very disturbing to hear the amount of influence he has exerted on Society over the years. Some of the consequences of his campaigns were truely horryfying.
  9. I am in the middle of a very entertaining read. '###### Las Vegas'. It a fond look at the history and stars that appeared at Batley Variety Club.
  10. I've been watching the "Mrs America" series about Phyllis Schlafly and her opposition to the Equal Rights Act. Its quite an eye-opening watch and demonstrates rather chillingly attitudes in the USA at the time. Very good.
  11. I heard a tale years ago that one Gary Sprake had tried to claim fame status over Bill Ramsey in the Leeds Mecca. It takes little imagination to consider what the result of that was!
  12. Nay, I could listen to Alan Bennett anytime!
  13. Nick Cave delivers a hearty and enthusiastic cover of an Alex classic. Does this rather well!
  14. Tell your neighbour to stick a bell on its collar. Give the feathered types a bit of a warning of impending doom!
  15. I have watched the whole series of this "new" interpretation and have to say it bears no comparison with Wolfgang Peterson's original production. The "new" one has added a completely new story line and the, seemingly vital, "romantic" thread. The bare bones gritty nature of the original was what made it so good and believable. The fragility of the human spirit when cooped up in a metal tube with folk trying their utmost to destroy you!
  16. A "Sweet" track that might have passed a few by. Steve Priest was a very fine bass player. There are so many people that are totally unaware of the quality of the "Sweet" back catalogue.
  17. A bit of real blues Peter Green style!
  18. Just to rub it in! (love this series also)
  19. One of the most obvious feeble efforts at this is "Paddington - A Year On The Tracks", Just a rehash of previous programs.
  20. Just heard a song from the upcoming new Dylan album , "Rough And Rowdy Ways" on Cerys Mathews Blues prog. I know its fashionable to say he's run his course and is an old git who should gracefully retire but I don't subscribe to that at all and am hugely looking forward to hearing it all.
  21. Just binge watched all seven series of "The West Wing" again. Some great actors amongst that cast. Then, after looking for more Aaron Sorkin stuff I have started watching "The Newsroom". Looking very promising so far. This missed me whyen it first came out but must admit Jeff Daniels plays a good part.
  22. One of my all time favourite westerns has to be "Appaloosa" with Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris. Quite a satisfying ending for a change as well! Really liked the Mudcrutch track - "Scare Esay" that ran over the credits but is not listed on the soundtrack oddly! Apologies! This should have gone into the film thread!
  23. If there are any western fans (like me) out there and you have access to Netflix, I can recommend "Godless", a short series of seven episodes with Jeff Daniels as the "baddie"! Its one of TV's better efforts much along the lines of "Deadwood".
  24. Just finished watching the final episode of "Gangs Of London". What's my verdict? Not sure yet! I've watched more than my fair share of "blood & guts" films and TV including the often blood thirsty Nordic Noir stuff on BBC4. The violence and blood/gore in this however is shocking at times. I suspect my mind would have been made up more rapidly if there had been a stronger actual storyline. I felt that was a bit loose shall we say. Some good acting performances but so many of the characters had such limited involvement prior to their demise! Michelle Fairley seems to be developing a "Sean Bean" habit of being killed off! The ending clearly left scope for a second series. I shall think on it some more!
