  1. The difference is people from the Catalonia region use the name and region to identify themselves and are immensely proud of it, it’s similar to the states of Queensland or New South Wales. We don’t have that same affinity here with a wider geographical area (other than with Wales and Scotland), we only have it with the town or city we are from. The region have been trying to form an independent country and the French there see Barcelona as their capital https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20444110
  2. You can back a top 6 finish at Betfred if that’s how you want to spend your money
  3. Rumours on social media 5 Toulouse players could be leaving the club as they are unvaccinated and unable to play any games, as things stand in France, a devastating blow for Toulouse.
  4. Leeds were decimated by injuries in 2021, even in pre season, this year is completely different with a clean bill of health for us. Add to that I think we have made the best signings of any club for 2022 in Fusitu’a, Sezer, Austin and Bentley. A new half back combination for Leeds, but one that played together with great success in the NRL with Canberra Raiders. The youngsters in Oledski, Holroyd, Smith, Newman, Broadbent, Walker and Gannon are all a year on in development and experience and I believe our most exciting group of players to come through since the golden generation. Leeds, Catalans and Saints are the 3 teams to beat, with Warrington potentially joining to make a top 4, they certainly should on paper the question is can Daryl Powell make it work at the it’s our year club.
  5. Like many others likely to be in the bottom half of the table Hull kr have a decent first choice 17 but very little depth to their squad. I actually think Toulouse have the weakest first choice starting 17 in Super League, but have more depth to their squad than their relegation rivals. An injury crisis is tough for any club but could be fatal for a bottom half club.
  6. Predictions for the 2022 Super League regular season table 1 Leeds 2 Saints 3 Catalans 4 Warrington 5 Hull FC 6 Huddersfield 7 Wigan 8 Hull KR 9 Castleford 10 Toulouse 11 Wakefield 12 Salford
  7. Despite all their doubters, Cornwall currently sit at the top of the table.
  8. They are a Rugby League club in very much a Rugby Union area, I’m sure the vast majority at the club will have a Union background, if we are to have expansion clubs mistakes like this are bound to happen, I don’t see it as a big deal. England Rugby League announced their squad last year with several players names spelt incorrectly, that’s poor, this is an honest mistake.
  9. Leeds city council have not funded the development of Headingley Stadium, I believe they have basically acted as a guarantor on a loan which will be repaid in full and cost the council nothing.
  10. I find it bizarre when fans believe the local authority (council tax payers) should pay for their stadium upgrades, you get a similar attitude with Wakefield and Castleford fans as well as at Salford. They are basically asking for their neighbours to subsidise their hobby of watching Rugby League.
  11. London have someone (David Hughes) who covers their substantial losses year after year
  12. I’ve been going to Headingley for almost 20 years and found free on street parking with very little effort at every single game. Every event with thousands attending will have traffic.
  13. Huddersfield were not required to build a 25,000 seater stadium, it is too big for them, it’s probably a more suitable size for Huddersfield FC but I have no idea whether they fill it or not. But that still doesn’t change the fact that a 5000 capacity ground is too small for Super League. I’m sure there were people on here saying York’s new stadium was too small for Super League and that holds 8500. A 12,000 capacity AJ Bell Stadium really shouldn’t be too big for a Super League club, if it is the answer is to increase crowds not decrease capacity by moving to a smaller stadium imo. Anyone who thinks Salford will be playing at a sold out capacity ground week in week out is deluded. Salford’s attendances will drop with this move. My opinion is they are preparing Salford to be a Championship club and cutting costs accordingly, obviously nobody at Salford is going to come out and say this while they are still in Super League.
  14. Salford are not getting booted out by the Union club, Salford are moving out as they can’t afford to pay the rent
  15. I wish them the best of luck and hope they are a success, but I can’t help but think this club would have a much greater chance of success playing in a League One South competition, as would the likes of Hemel, Gloucestershire All Golds, Oxford and any other club with semi pro ambitions.
  16. I wonder if the Redcliffe Dolphins will sign any British Super League players, it’d be a missed opportunity for them if they don’t imo
  17. The Championship used to have less clubs and Championship clubs can choose to be full time now, most can’t afford it, like London who recently switched from Full Time to Part Time. Where will the additional funding come from for Championship clubs to become Full Time?
  18. It is an embarrassment that a club playing in Soccer’s 4th division considers a stadium too small and inadequate, whereas a Super League club thinks it’s suitable for them. Too many small clubs survive on the £1.6m Sky money which is all generated by the big clubs. The sooner Super League outgrows the small time ambition-less clubs the better. Toulouse have done it, hopefully Newcastle, York and Bradford can follow them. Those clubs all have ambition and potential.
  19. But Salford hardly have any fans, there is no point pandering to them. I have no idea about Salford moving to or becoming Manchester, but if it’s a chance it could be a success they should go for it rather than continuing to play in front of crowds of 3000 fans for Super League games and worrying about upsetting some old time supporters. Any true fans would move to their clubs new home.
  20. And why do you think so many Australians showed up to watch Liverpool? It’s the same reason Wembley gets filled for NFL games. Those teams are massive International brands because they are the League they play in has so much exposure and coverage.
  21. Leeds got their record attendance when Headingley was getting developed and they took a few games to Elland Road. Despite the bigger attendances it didn’t make sense financially to go back to Elland Road, as after paying to rent the stadium Leeds were better off and made more profit with a smaller attendance at Headingley. I think we should move to a kind of mini magic double header on the road games. This would share out the costs of hiring bigger venues. Something like this in year 1. Wigan V Saints and Salford v Warrington at a Man City’s ground or Anfield Leeds v Huddersfield and Wakefield v Castleford at Elland Road or Bramhall Lane Keep the Hull v Hull in Hull and Catalans v Toulouse in France
  22. Pre Covid they were about 3000 I believe, so a similar figure to Salford Reds at the AJ Bell Stadium. It’s a sad fact to accept as Moor Lane really shouldn’t be up to Super League standards, but the cost cutting move makes sense to a Salford Reds side that just hasn’t been able to attract supporters to its games.
  23. It’s a cycle of lots of coverage and popularity breeds more popularity and coverage. If you look at the top soccer league in Australia A-League the attendances are lower than the NRL, probably similar to Super League. If a sport is hidden away out of sight people will not come flocking to it. It’s why we need to get as much coverage as possible on free to air tv.
  24. Genuine question, Moor Lane has a capacity of 5106. How many times, if at all, have Salford had an attendance that exceeded the 5106 this season?
