  1. Yes I chose my words carefully, because Salford are already in the football league. But yes agreed football clubs know what they have to do, whereas RL clubs probably don’t.
  2. I can’t recall a football league team ever being denied promotion on those grounds though, they’d usually be given a few years dispensation to sort things out.
  3. Good to see 4 domestic based players in there. I expect Jamaica will be too good for that squad though.
  4. I don’t go to dinner parties, prefer the pub, but there’s no need to resort to cheap insults because my opinion is different to yours.
  5. I couldn’t care less that Norwich are bottom, every other club has owners worth over £1bn except Watford who aren’t far off - it’s not a level playing field, and I’ve gone right off professional football anyway. The reason I don’t like Salford City is because they’ve bought success, much like I don’t like Chelsea or Man City.
  6. I didn’t say that. Probably best to end this here as you’re putting words in my mouth.
  7. So do you think most of the people who go to watch Salford City support just them and not another club?
  8. Maybe they do, those 50 people supported a woeful non league club for a reason.
  9. I hope they don’t, the sooner the Salford City vanity project comes to an end the better.
  10. They don’t have any actual fans though, just Man Utd fans who want a game to watch when Utd are away.
  11. Which is closer to Salford’s traditional fan base, the AJ Bell or Moor Lane? I often hear people on this forum moaning that the former is outside Salford, hard to get to and away from their fan base; is that also the case with Moor Lane?
  12. There is, in case of interest @The Daddy, already a 6 page thread on this, though it’s mainly speculation of course. https://www.totalrl.com/forums/index.php?/topic/361877-uncertainty-remains-over-the-red-devils-stadium-future/
  13. They do this in football in Argentina, and some other South American countries, the plan was to prevent any of the big 5 going down, but then River Plate did go down so they merged the top two divisions to keep them up.
  14. Nice. I wonder how many of the team have ever been to Scotland though.
  15. Because they haven’t got a pot to slash in and they’d have to pay accommodation and travel for 50 odd people, at least, and they’d get a small crowd to fund it. Unsatisfactory I know but if they get 3,000 at POR it will bring some revenue in at least and they probably won’t have to pay for hotels even.
  16. Neither do I, and I’ve often said on this forum that the Scottish and Irish teams are pointless too (and get shot down for it). Jamaica are slightly different because they have a domestic quota and were going to have a minimum number of domestic players (4 iirc) in their WC squad, same with Greece.
  17. I agree with you in principle but all the players will be coming from Lancs and Yorks, so it makes sense to minimise their travel and accommodation costs, and get a decent crowd in. If it was played in Scotland they’d have to pay for hotels for a couple of nights at least, and the crowd would probably be smaller than at POR.
  18. Weird that he mentioned Fev the other day when they’d never played there before, maybe he’s secretly the Chief Exec of Scottish RL.
  19. Well they obviously didn’t read your email and C&Pd that staple response - would have been better if they just hadn’t replied.
  20. I’m gutted, my whole month was planned around the WC.
  21. Doubt that they’d want it there either, they’re just not interested.
  22. Well no surprise, and probably the sensible decision for the organisers to make, but I’m gutted nonetheless. I’d like the see the NRL confirm they’ll be coming next year, as I can see this happening again next summer.
  23. Good to see the sixth team in this year Yanto. Why did the Griffins only play 5 games though?
