The NRL salary cap now $12.1m (£6.5m)

With the record amount of investment within the NRL on top of the record salary cap the game would be missing a trick in not trying to sew up the pacific region and making a bigger play in the NZ market. -

Factor in the standard of living and climate in Australia and you’ve arguably got the best domestic rugby competition on the planet with maybe the top14 competition in France. -

Could also see the early return of RTS back to league which would be another positive. -

I agree that we will probably see more and more Union players targeted at lower levels compared to the more established players. -

NZ rugby Union has some terrific talent that could make the grade in the NRL as does Fiji. Dont think the pull of the AB’s jersey is fading but the appeal of super rugby definitely is fading and fading fast. -
Great and positive news. just need the dragons to give their juniors or French domestic players a shot in the 1st team now.

Would be interesting to see if this significant salary cap increase would see a shift in policy of NRL clubs targeting Super rugby Union players from Australia, NZ and the pacific but especially from New Zealand? -

Great news for RL down under and obviously for the players. Dont understand why it quotes two sets of figures at $11.45 million and $12.1 million? edit. Just read the article again and seen that the additional $650k is for development contracts. -
If it does ever happen It’ll be salfords new stadium all over again. We all remember the 1st modern 21st century futuristic plans/designs only to see your average IKEA flat pack stadium being built.

Too good for that level.

New High Performance Centre For Dragons

Dragons should be permanently located in Wollongong with no more than 1 or 2 “home” games played kogarah oval. Would be could if WIN stadium could get some money spent on it as well. -

There seems to be numerous of these centres of excellence being built or proposals of late. manly and wests have recently opened theirs. Government funding? -

Exactly. and it doesn’t need an honours degree to work this out.
-

Rugby League Australia most popular sport?
Tosh replied to Young Blood's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
A PNG NRL franchise is too risky all around for both on and off the field reasons and their are far too many less risky options in Perth, Queensland and New Zealand and maybe even Adelaide or Melbourne 2 etc.
