Yes, agreed. In a world of digital streaming - as opposed to analogue transmission - the broadcaster knows exactly who is watching, and what they like. That’s what makes it valuable. It seems DAZN is building a sort of Amazon of sports TV.

In a nutshell, DAZN wants a slice of the action beyond the traditional sports TV model of subscriptions and advertising revenue. If people are betting on NRL games watched on DAZN (Kayo), it wants a slice of the pie. If people are buying merch of teams watched on DAZN (Kayo), it wants a slice of the pie. If people are watching YouTube videos about games watched on DAZN (Kayo) - perhaps the Levels NRL podcast or maybe Love Rugby League or Forty20 in the UK - it wants a slice of the pie. Data etc.
