NWC U14's Origin Series 2016

Great concept and nice to see some really good early pro-active promotion of the game at younger age-groups!

Good luck to all those involved!!!! Hope it proves to be the huge success it deserves to be and is well supported.

The concept is groundbreaking for junior RL it develops not only the players but coaches and up and coming match officials .

A lot of time and effort is going into providing a new delivery of RL and the hope is to promote junior rugby to a wider audience , showcasing the talent in the NW .

I for one am firmly behind the 13-15s in this ambitious project .

And not a blazer to be seen

Oh you can guarantee the usual BARLA faces will turn up if there's even a sniff of a free buffet!!! Pity they can't show some positive support in the lead up to the event by helping promote it.

It's the players from the top 4 teams from the prem mate, as all other teams are involved in play offs.

Great work!

Thanks.

The only negative about this years competition is a massive negative, and it isn't down to the NWC at all.

It's down to the pro clubs, who as this year (under 14s) is the year players can start to get signed by the pro clubs are continuously telling players from lower leagues to join certain clubs in order to make sure that they get selected.

This is basically starving other clubs of the talent that they have nurtured from a young age, in order to create 3-4 "super" teams. Which in all fairness were already decent teams anyway.

This then also, pushes players from these "super" teams down the pecking order to be replaced by the lads being scouted.

Whatever happened to coaching talent, rather than trying to just take lads that are already superb players?

This with only do damage to the game at 13-15s level.

It's also happening over here in Yorkshire, although the pro clubs involved deny they are "suggesting" players move on.

We all know it goes on and has been for years ,

The problem is the RFL ask us to give them the evidence but how many parents have the strength of conviction to stand up and be counted if it could damage the future of their child .

This is why we want the scholarships scrapping its damaging the fabric of the sport and the selfish pro clubs don't give a monkeys .

The leagues have a responsibility to police the transfers we need to be stronger in monitoring the movement of players , in Yorkshire the movement of players is staggering compared to the North West and that is perhaps why the game at U18 in Yorkshire has almost become a thing of the past .

The U14's top 4 teams from the Prem all combine and are selected equally and positionally to formulate the four Origin squads, this brings a new experience/challenge to the players and also the coaches.

Outside of the Origin Series all other teams play off to decide P&R based on their final league position after the division fixtures were completed on 17th July before the summer break.

Great start to series round one had plenty of skill and commitment on show .

Pleasing to see the players adapting to the concept and no quarters asked or given .

Looking forward to round two .

Players looked the part in their bespoke kits and team wear ,

Really good concept it's a win win for developing players coaches and match officials .
