The iPort Academy is the hub for employment at the developing Doncaster iPort site near the Great Yorkshire Way, Rossington, offering free support to all Doncaster residents.

The sponsorship agreement will see the iPort Academy sponsor Rovers midfielder Paul Keegan and Doncaster Rugby League player Chris Heil, in addition to a range of other advertising and hospitality benefits.

George Baker, employment co-ordinator at the iPort Academy, said that the unique nature of the Club Doncaster concept was one of the key reasons for getting involved.

He said: “Our goal is to inform local people about the great employment opportunities that will be available at the iPort.

“By aligning ourselves with Club Doncaster and supporting both Doncaster Rovers and the Dons we are creating a partnership destined to succeed.

“The Keepmoat Stadium is one the most recognisable landmarks in the town, and with thousands of people going through the door on a weekly basis, we are confident of raising our profile to the people of Doncaster.”

The opening of the Great Yorkshire Way has been hailed for its impact in increasing connectivity in the town, particularly for those looking to use Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Jon Warburton, commercial manager at Club Doncaster, said that the iPort’s growth would only benefit from having a presence at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He said: “The iPort has really grown from strength to strength recently, a growth no doubt accelerated by the opening of the Great Yorkshire Way in early 2016.

“Now it is important that the iPort becomes part of the fabric of Doncaster’s growth and that businesses and people in the town start to see and appreciate the opportunities that exist there.

“Through Club Doncaster, the opportunity is there to raise the organisation’s profile amongst two different fanbases, in addition to the plethora of other avenues we have to communicate with local communities.

“We are extremely pleased that the team at the iPort Academy has seen the potential benefits that we offer and look forward to working with them going forward.”
