Charlie Martin says the character in the Dons dressing room has been key to their unbeaten start to the season.

Martin grabbed his second try of the season in the 22-20 win over Newcastle Thunder on Sunday, and believes the side never knows when they are beaten.

He said: "The character of the boys to get the job done is great, there was a never say die attitude and there was no negativity even when we were behind on the scoreboard.

"It's a big turnaround from last year and there is a positive mindset in the group, we've got trust in each other and know how much quality we have in the team.

"We've got some good players and some real leaders in the team, we're all bonding and coming together as a team which is what you need to be successful."

The Dons now face five games in the space of a month in all competitions, and Martin says the players have a responsibility to look after themselves before and after each match.

He added: "We've got a run of tough games but they are the games you want to play in as it's good to have big tests, the boys will recover right and be raring to go.

"It's massive that we get our recovery right, the boys here have to go to work and then train so it's all about getting the little things right between games.

"We've made a good start and we know the next month or so will be crucial for us, we want to keep that winning mentality and pick up as many points as possible."

The Dons return to the Keepmoat Stadium on Good Friday to take on York City Knights in Betfred League One. You can buy tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk

It should also be noted that cash gates will not be in operation for the York City Knights game and therefore fans are urged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid long queues at the Box Office on matchday.
