Long serving Head of Performance Mike Eccles has agreed a new contract with the club which will see him continue in his role overseeing the performance dept of the club into 2021.

Joining the club from Salford in 2012 Mike has worked with a huge number of players and coaches during that time and that experience is an integral part of what he brings to the role. Working closely with Danny Ward and Jamie Langley, as well as the clubs wealth of backroom staff, Eccles was a key part of the incredible 2018 season which saw the Broncos promoted to Super League, something the club will always owe a debt of gratitude for.

2021 will be Mike’s tenth straight season with the Broncos, an indication of the loyalty and passion Eccles has for Rugby League in the South East.

As the players return to training in November Mike will have to draw back on all his knowledge and experience to deal with the longest ‘off-season’ the players will have ever had to come back from and we will be following the progress of the boys right through the winter with updates from Mike and his team.

Securing the services of Mike was always high on coach Danny Wards list of priorities this summer and he was delighted to get his right hand man in place and ready to prepare for the Championship campaign in 2021.

He said “ Mike really is one of the best in the business and a huge asset for the Broncos. Year on year he gets the best out of the group and the boys can’t speak highly enough of him. He has been at the club a long time now and shares the same passion and drive for the Broncos and the game of Rugby League in London as we all do. Maybe this year we’ll finally see him break his duck and make a coffee in the coaches office.”

The players return to Training next month and supporters can look forward to a number of informative pieces from Mike and his team which will give an insight into the work that goes on during pre-season.
