Kai Pearce-Paul said it was a ‘good feeling’ to be back in action following Wigan Warriors’ 26-12 victory over Warrington Wolves at the DW Stadium.

The second rower came off the bench to make his 50th appearance for the club, which he marked with a Man of the Match performance on his return from a leg injury.

Speaking on his comeback, Pearce-Paul said: “I’ve spent the last eight weeks putting in a lot of hard work in the gym everyday. I missed being out with the lads so it was a good feeling to be back out there, especially with getting the win over Warrington as well.”

Despite falling behind twice in the first half, the Warriors responded with two unanswered tries after the break to claim the two points and climb to third in the Super League table.

Looking back on the game, Pearce-Paul said: “It’s never easy in Super League and tonight was always going to be tough against a team like Warrington. The first 20 minutes was hard but the boys fought well to hang in there. We grafted our way through, and in the end we got the joy.”

Reflecting on the season so far, Pearce-Paul added: “We’ve struggled to gain momentum at times but overall it’s been good. Hopefully off the back of this win we can build momentum going into more important matches in the business end of the season.”

Looking ahead to next Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final clash against Hull KR at Headingley Stadium, Pearce-Paul said: “I’m really excited for next week. It’s something I unfortunately missed out on last year, but I’m hungry for it this year.

“It’s going to be a big game against a good Hull KR team so hopefully we can build towards that. It’s a job I want to get done, and I’m sure all the lads in the changing rooms can tell you the same thing.”#
