Rochdale Hornets forward Jordan Andrade has signed a new contract which will see him remain at the club for the duration of the 2025 season.

The 32-year-old joined the club ahead of the 2024 season in October from North Wales Crusaders.

Since then, the Jamaican international has become a standout player for the Hornets, scoring eight tries in 21 appearances.

Speaking about his new contract, Andrade said: "I'm very happy to be staying with the Hornets. I feel like it's been a very good season for me and I'm back playing rugby weekly.

"I feel like the team is doing really well, and I think that we've only just started.

"I'm really happy to crack on next year and see where we can go."

The powerhouse forward made the move to Rochdale on the back of a successful season with Carl Forster's Crusaders, making it to the League 1 play-off final against Doncaster, where they were narrowly beaten 18-6.

Now, Andrade is hoping to use this experience to help push the Hornets on in their bid for promotion into the Betfred Championship.

"I think that we have a very good chance to go all the way this season," he said.

"I just think that we need that consistency. We're playing teams above us and doing really well and then sometimes we can lose a bit of consistency.

"But we're coming up to a point now where we're finding it - we've won seven games from our last 10 fixtures, and we're bouncing back from defeats well, so I think being consistent is the one thing that we've really improved on this season."

Andrade becomes the fourth player to commit his immediate future to the club, following in the footsteps of Emmerson Whittel, Luke Nelmes and Deane Meadows.

Regardless of the outcome of the Hornets' promotion push this campaign, Andrade believes that the club stands in good stead to compete once again in 2025.

"I try not to look too far ahead because I know that teams can change so much through the off-season into next year, but I've looked at the people who've signed and, not only have we signed some good players, but we've signed some good leaders too, and lads who really help in the changing room," Andrade added.

"League 1 is getting to the point where there have been some really big signings in the last couple of years, and to compete at those levels, that's where we need to be.

"I think that we're going in the right direction to move forward, sign some really good players in the off-season and put ourselves in a really good stead for next year."
