Castleford coach Daryl Powell believes the depth in his outside backs is enough to prevent them from entering the transfer market for a replacement for recently-departed winger Garry Lo.
The Papua New Guinea international recently left the Tigers after his representatives sought his release to allow him to focus on a personal matter.
The likes of Greg Eden and James Clare remain out injured – but Powell has stressed they won’t be tempted to source a replacement for Lo.
“No, we won’t be,” he said when asked if they would enter the transfer market.
“We’ve got some good young wingers in Tuoyo Egodo and Kieran Gill. So we have a couple of players there who we can call on.”
Powell is still without Eden and Clare for this weekend’s Challenge Cup tie with St Helens – but he is confident that young fullback Jake Trueman should be passed fit.
If not, however, it could mean another runout at the back for captain Michael Shenton.
“He’ll be okay,” Powell said of Trueman.
“He gets some issues with migraine and he was in some discomfort so we couldn’t put him back on. But I thought Shenny played really well at full-back so he could potentially get a chance there against Saints.
“I picked him there in 2013 against Widnes and he did all right. We had a few full-back options at that time but we’re a bit thin on them at the moment!”
