  1. From what I recall from the last few games, Leigh seem to be scoring most of their tries on their right edge. That might help us as typically that's against our strongest edge defensively, especially with Farrell moving back to his favoured side. I'm hoping that's because they attack better on that side and it can protect Farrimond from facing the worst they have to offer. Though I fear even if they do prefer one edge over the other they've got more than enough variety in their attack to pick out our weaknesses. It's looks like Wigan's strongest squad is available minus French so we should be winning this given what we know the team is capable of, but our performances of late have been so poor that I'm expecting a Leigh win. My worry is that we've shown weaknesses in so many areas recently. We've conceded tries back in behind the ruck area from close range because the communication in the defence has been poor and experienced players have been leaving huge gaps. Ipape will tear us to pieces if we do that against Leigh. On the other hand, the movement from some of our middle forwards has been poor to the point where one quick and accurate pass bypasses the entire middle unit and the don't slide across quick enough. I don't know if it's lack of focus or lack of effort but it's a far cry when what our defence has been at its best, but it's something the defence has struggled with throughout the year as we were exposed in the challenge cup game against Hull too. I think our best hope is that our slump has been due to a lack of focus and that a big game against a bitter rival is exactly what we need to get these players into the mood and playing with the intensity they've shown in other big games.
  2. As someone who grew up with Busted, was a huge Fightstar fan and is a fan of Charlie's solo albums, there's no 'allegedly' about it. The idea of one of the most recognisable (and best) vocalists in modern rock being in an anonymous band is quite funny. Really like their first two songs. As far as modern metal goes, I'm quite into this Danish band
  3. Just watched Nova Twins set on iplayer. They always put on a good show. Definitely one of the most unique bands around with a sort of grime-punk fusion.
  4. I like the fact that I can find some new artists through watching Glastonbury but also see some others that I wasn't too keen on or hadn't paid much attention to in a new light. Some bands and artists are much more interesting as live acts. I enjoyed watching Pulp even though their peak predates my interest in music so I'd never really paid much attention to them. Franz Ferdinand were surprisingly good too. John Fogerty was a highlight, as were Biffy Clyro. Now looking forward to watching Noak Kahan on the Pyramind Stage. One of few modern acts I've come to love despite slowly drifting towards the age where music just ain't as good as it was in my day.

  6. Teams are now using the same attacking shape against us and it keeps leading to tries. They know Farrimond is weak defensively and doesn't inspire confidence so he's always going to be a target when he plays. They also know Keighran will over-commit to either a runner behind the lead or an inside run which takes him out the defensive line completely. He's got a difficult job, especially when there's an overlap but everyone can now predict his decision making a pick us off.
  7. Feel sorry for Danny McGuire. He'll probably get a fine for giving a truly honest and 100% justified answer to a question that he should have every right to answer honestly. The decision was abysmal and completely incorrect and everyone knows it.
  8. If he was as quick as he used to be he'd have overrun that
  9. That's another good point. He used the ground to control the ball which is always given as a knock on, then dragged forward. It was a shambles of a call.
  10. I don't know how the video ref convinced himself it was a 'rugby incident'. I guess you get away with that contact on kickers in most situations but that's when they've previously been in possession of the ball and a player is commited to the tackle. Smith can't be committed to a tackle in that situation because the player was never in possession so it has to be a penalty.
